  • Hard News: A. B. B.,

North of the bridge - I'll come out of the closet and admit that ten minutes with the candidate information booklet brought me to the conclusion that the most responsible act was to rip my ballot paper into very, very small pieces and burn it.

Oh, I too am tempted, Craig. Very, very, very. And I have no idea what to do about it. I want to vote. It's my duty, I believe that I must exercise this democratic right. But........I am very near to not voting at all. And I hate that.I would normally vote for City Vision candidates but this year, I don't know. Please help me - if anyone can, you politically motivated lot can.

  • Radiation: Television hell,

Did anyone catch Stephen Fry's doco last night? Really thoughtful, and revealing commentary on manic depression.

  • Emmy's Awarded,

I love awards ceremonies. I tape them, and fastforward through the boring bits. I was really disappointed that NZ TV isn't going to screen the Emmys. Boo hiss.

I'm not blaming her at all, Craig, nor her children. I'm blaming him for not informing her at some stage in the twenty odd years they were together that this eventuality may occur. I was being flippant - sorry if any offence was taken. And yes it is a very similar situation to not so long in the distant past when a gay man was ill, and his long term partner had no rights. Can we at least concur that Tamaki is a scary so and so?

What a lovely long thread to read through on a Thursday evening when it's the end of term, as well. And being that it's the end of term, my intelligent speech quotient is five words. Tamaki Is A Scary F*****

This seemed to be the case with the recent argument about the burial of the bloke from Christchurch. His North Island whanau have adopted a view of the world that was valid when there was nothing to test it against but I don't understand how it can be defended these days with such vehemence. You might say you prefer the traditional ways for a host of reasons but how can you say in 2007 it is now the only way to proceed?

The wahine ataahua that I do my mahi with every day think that the bloke who died needed to tell his family early on that the family of his birth were very likely to take his tinana back to their turangawaewae. And then all of this hooha would have been avoided. I would tautoko this point of view.

  • Radiation: Television hell,

I have loved Dead Like Me - and I liked the way at the end of last night's two hour finale, that her last words were ".......dead like me." Brilliant. I liked the way they built up the tension around the thing that burst out of Ray, only for George to completely destroy it by "reaping" it. Oh, I could go on and on and on. Not watching the Tudors. When you've seen what I think is the "original" with Genevieve Bujold and Richard Burton - even though it was really only about Anne Boleyn, but let's face it, she was the most interesting of the wives what with her six fingers on each hand, and all - and loved the way that Ray Winstone portrayed Henry VIII, well, I just couldn't get into this version.

Geographical location aside, this case makes me very, very sad. Sad that AnAn died in such heinous circumstances, sad for the wee girl, sad for the Mum's family, sad for the father's eldest "missing" daughter. Sometimes I wonder how long people can go on doing this shit to each other. I wonder if any of the neighbours knew what was going on? It's a prettty busy street, what with there being a kindergarten and a school further down the road. Loads of traffic, right at the start of the Roskill shops.
