Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to
There's one very simple way to avoid buying into a straw man argument, you know.
Would that be pointing out that other people's arguments are a straw man and re-iterating one's actual position? That's the point where I would've buggered off - I don't know if he was too prideful to back away or just decided to start taking the piss. Guess it doesn't really matter now.
FWIW, I dropped an Engineering degree in favour of a BA in Philosophy, purely because that's what I was interested in, and fully aware of the fact that I had no idea what sort of productive job it would get me. Worked out OK for me (and the taxpayers).

And I'm only about 80% convinced that Danyl can't possibly genuinely hold his position at the extreme he's arguing at.
Well, given that he started saying something much milder and only ended up at the extreme once he bought into the straw man that got foisted onto him, yeah, I'd say it's pretty definite that he doesn't really hold that position.

Speaking of columnists, who is Eric Thompson and what nightmarish parallel dimension does he inhabit? Every column of his chronicles a new set of annoyances and misfortunes, which he seems to believe are universal tragedies experienced by everyone all the time. Poor guy.

Here's a random thing: Childish Gambino (that's Donald Glover (that's Troy from "Community")) has released his first EP free for download.

Word is that Charlie Sheen's Twitter account isn't written by him. Either way, I prefer to follow Old Spice for my hyper-masculine rambling.

As far as Super city goes, I've never been a fan of that kind of comedy - I never saw the appeal of We Can Be Heroes or High School High, for starters.
It has, however, provided me with a useful new exclamation -- "By the frosted merkin of Madeline Sami!" works in any number of situations, I find.

Interestingly (I thought the prequels were average, but not the complete disaster many people thought), Yoda was the character I hated the most in the prequels. I thought they betrayed the later character by having him jump around like a spazz in the fight scenes.
I thought that captured his character perfectly. Yoda is the kung fu master - the funny little old man who walks with a stick, who can kick anyone's arse when he needs to, then goes back to walking with a stick when he's done. The original films also had him flipping from comical to serious, just in demeanour, not actions.

I saw Julia Deans live earlier this year - bugger me, she's got a voice on her. And she played "Lydia" for an encore - legend. I've always been a fan of Fur Patrol, and it's interesting to listen to their old stuff and see how she's gotten even better over time.
