Thank you for those pdf TVNZ7 & TVOne schedules. Much easier to read.
Funny how a lot of people (one in this thread, no less) are talking about last night's "All White victory".
I was just preparing for sleep at the 92nd minute last night, when BAM, nothing like a joyous adrenaline rush to push back the possibility of sleep by another hour.

Which games are on TVNZ7?
Is there a free-to-air schedule somewhere?
Oh, there are links to the TVOne & TVNZ7 live schedules here, but it's not very easy to read.

I didn't realise all the All Whites games are live on TV One.
Thank goodness for that.

Fair enough, but to say he was 'never intended to be a main character' is a stretch.
'In the original outline of Lost', he wasn't, apparently. But that' pretty meaningless. A bunch of characters were added or rewritten after casting.
The original outline of Lost may have been written years before the first script went into development. Pretty sure before the pilot episode was filmed, the writers knew Jack was going to be there until the end.
-
I find that a bit hard to believe, especially considering the writers (say that they) knew the show would end with Jack's eye closing.
-
I saw the first few episodes and the infuriating plot holes wide enough to fly planes through drove me off - what interested me was the promise that they would resolve it all.
I watched the final episode, and it turns out they didn't. It was nonsense from the get go.
A lot of the questions the show posed (especially in the first few episodes) were resolved/explained long before the final.

The sideways universe was an overly long setup for a feel-good cast photo op at the end.
But none of had anything at all to do with the story on-island and with the previous seasons, so I don't see how it detracted from what people've put into/taken from the show, except to take screen time away from the on-island activities in the final season.
The real story ended with MIB being killed, Jack sacrificing himself for the island, Hurley becoming the new guardian, Ben becoming his #2. Rose & Bernard and maybe a few other people staying on the island and 6 of the Losties escaping in the aeroplane.
Pretty good ending, even if we (and the characters) didn't learn the reason behind every crazy thing that they'd experienced.
The sidetime was just an extended epilogue and was pretty meaningless. No harm done though, as far as I'm concerned.

For fans who stuck with he whole run and didn't like the ending, surely they only wasted 15 minutes of their lives and were entertained by the rest?
'It's the journey, not the destination' & all those cliches?

One of the kings of making shit up as he went along was George Lucas. (Though it kinda went Rebo shaped after ESB).
The first draft of Empire has leaked online in the last month or so, written by Leigh Bracket using George's notes.
It's an interesting read (link at bottom of the newspost.
Brackett's script would have created an entirely different series from the Star Wars saga we know today. Most notably, the draft envisions a world where Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker are two separate people: Luke meets his father's Force ghost while training as a Jedi knight, and then goes on to duel Vader in Cloud City.
Also, Luke has a twin sister who is referred to--but it's not Leia. Instead a girl named "Nellith" is said to have been separated from Luke at birth. Although spoken of, she is never actually seen in the film, setting up a plot thread for future sequels.

Oh, and some of you might get a laugh out of this short skit by Dana Carvey (Wayne's World's Garth).
I love it.
