  • Hard News: Music in Parks,

did the recording industry get all up in arms about taping records and dubbing mix tapes for your mates?

Actually yeah, they did "Home taping is killing music"

However... it took 90 (plus) minutes to make a mix-tape, and a further 90 (or maybe 45 on hi-speed dubbing) to make single copy for that girl you were trying to impress. And of course a couple of generations away from the source, and a tape starts to sound shit.

Now you can make a playlist in 5 minutes and burn how many (lossless) CDs in the same amount of time?

  • Hard News: Only rock 'n' roll,

Yeah - I think I must have told too many people today ;)

Keep trying though, especially later in the evening as America goes to sleep.

I can get in OK to play tracks, but there is some network congestion interfering with it all.

Tomorrowpeople, just head to concerts.wolfgangsvault.com and you can browse artists by name - that link will take you straight to "A" where "A flock of Seagulls" is first on the list...

  • Hard News: Only rock 'n' roll,

Ack - that Elton John URL got cut off due to vertical bar. Just cut & paste the whole thing.

And Jackie, you're welcome. I've spent hours on there. Streaming Van Morrison while I work this morning. Laughed that Flock of Seaguls made the US fans wait until the very last song before pulling out I Ran...

  • Hard News: Only rock 'n' roll,

    The search results are awkward to link to (lots of spaces etc), but here's some;

There's also stuff without WOOWarriors, but I'll let you fight your way through the http://www.archive.org/details/etree links to find it.

Wolfgang's Vault has a couple of Hendrix shows plus some Sly Stone if you like the Funk. I was hoping for some classic soul performers (ABC doesn't really count), but it seems a bit light in that area. Maybe with the future additions? (5 new (old) shows added per week they're saying)

One of the real gems is Elton John on his first US tour in 1970, 3 piece band. Nice cover of the Stones Honky Tonk Woman too...

  • Hard News: Only rock 'n' roll,

While we're all talking digital music and Rock'n'Roll, I just discovered Wolfgang's Vault yesterday.

300 free-to-stream (and fully legal) live concerts from Billy Graham's Fillmore archives + King Biscuit Flower Hour tapes.

60, 70,80s stuff from Springsteen to Cream, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Crowded House, Cure, Duran Duran, Led Zep,
    Stevie Ray Vaughan...

    http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/

Enough to get lost in for months...

And I'm also enjoying the Bernie Worrell (P-Funk) and 60+ Warren Zevon live recordings that are available on archive.org
