And we've only got his word that he never used it.

Ah, I dont want to be seen to stick up for this dick-head, but I'd presume if that was not correct, the immigration department (or whatever it's called) would have brought this up at the time of the court case, and he wouldnt have been discharged without conviction?

  • Hard News: The best blogger there never was,

It appears there may be someone within ACT with some integrity?

"Hide, meanwhile, was stranded in Hong Kong at his son's 21st birthday celebrations, and had lost his chief press secretary, who walked out of his job earlier in the day." (from John Armstrong here)

Is that "I cant spin your shit anymore, so bye bye"?

  • Up Front: Eat Up Your Brothelly,

emphatic that it's not a reality TV series, but a documentary

Can I just check if I have this straight....If you film something that was going to happen anyway whether cameras were present or not, and present it in a completely straight (or possibly with a slight spin), but essentially factual manner....

Thats not "reality", but documentary, right?

Because "reality" is actually at least 90% fake?

  • Up Front: Eat Up Your Brothelly,

Because a key traditional role of women in most societies is to wash away men's sins?

I believe those services are also available in brothels, but cost extra?

  • Up Front: Eat Up Your Brothelly,

Also. Men paying women for sex = degrading to women. However, women paying men for sex = degrading to women. Wuh?

Surely this is obvious? All women are high on a pedestal, and pretty much anything "naughty" or "icky" they do lowers them to a greater or lesser degree, and all men are base and filth, and pretty much incapable of lowering them selves at all, on account of already being in the gutter...

    Or something? :)

My gosh, that is generous Russell,
I'd be happy to pay double... :)

  • Hard News: The Creepy Party,

I've been with Orcon Broadband in suburban Green Bay, Auckland for nearly six months... may not directly compare to rural South Island? :)

But, while the connection speed is not brilliant (1.4-1.6 Mbps), they have responded to my queries and rescinded disputed charges promptly and without argument.

Also, while my connection speed is low... torrents actually come down significantly quicker than a colleague who has a Telecom connection rated five time faster. (presumably filtering/shaping?)

  • Up Front: The C Word,

FletcherB. No, have never owned a Spitfire. Lordy, what class is that?

A Spitfire would be a small 1970's sportscar made by Triumph.

If you've not owned one, then you're not the historic espresso maker collector and lover of old-stuff in general I thought you might be...

But you can at least rest assured that you are not alone in your affliction... :)

Recordari... I used to know a fellow with a collection of old Atomics and similar.... If it's you, did you finish restoring the Spitfire?

  • Up Front: The C Word,

Am I silly if I own one of these and one of those?

They both make great tasting coffee, but the italian one doesnt make much of a craema (sp?). Also its nice brass handle fell off.

But yeah, a cheap no-name stove-top mocha can make pretty good real coffee, and while it's not as instant as boiling a jug and pouring it over a teaspoon of powder... it only takes maybe five minutes? Put it on before you put the bread in the toaster and your 2 course breakfast will be all ready together :)
