  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

You might expect journalists to do that but you're going to be perptually disappointed because that's not their job.

Hmm.... So, then I assume you're not personally offended by the bloggers that have started using the term "repeater" instead of reporter?

  • Field Theory: Great game of netball or…,

So, if none of us watch the NZ cricket team, will that help?

  • OnPoint: On Freedom of Speech,

    As to Henry's on-air partisanship....

In the very same interview with the PM that he's got into hot water over and we are all talking about...... he was also heavily biased towards John Banks... He spoke to the PM about how Len Brown seemed to be leading the polls and asked how "we" (him and the PM? TVNZ?) could overcome this issue and help the "correct" person (ie. Banks) win.... (paraphrased, of course).
(Key rightly demurred, and said it was up to the people of Auckland)

Not what I expect from a state-brodacaster's "news" presentation.

  • Hard News: Sunday in Super City,

I'm sure there are plenty of places to park an All Blacks branded Holden V8 ute..

You can fit all of them together into less space than a single bicycle...

(All Blacks sponsored by Ford) :)

  • Voting Local 2010,

There were quiet a few centre-left people who thought that the amalgamation was a good idea and it has turned out to be so.

While I'm not unhappy with the results of the election...

I'm thinking your deciding the amalgamation has turned out well are a little premature.... I might have an idea of whether it was good or bad in maybe five years time at the earliest?

  • Hard News: Morning in Auckland,

I don't want him back - how many sixth chances do others get? He's an embarassment and a waste of oxygen.

While I'd be happy for him to be gone... I think he's in a bit of a special situation.... if they try to fire him over this, I think he could try (successfully?) to argue that previous PR and lack of sanctions from TVNZ had encouraged him, and it was not that far different from previous transgressions to be clearly grounds for instant dismissal.... like other's have said, he's still an employee and still entitled to fair process.

On the other hand, if he's already received warnings and sanctions (in private, counter to TVNZ publicity).... then yeah... he's good to go.

  • Up Front: Staying Civil,

I loved our big-ish (out-doors, nice scenery, marquee) but not churchy wedding... but it didnt seem out of the ordinary to us...

But Scottish friends commented how much they loved that in NZ you could get married in a park or front yard or wherever.... because the only legal options in Scotland were church or registry office... you couldnt make your own wedding venue! You either had to swear allegiance to some god etc, or have it in a bland room down at the council office.

I'm grateful we aren't so restricted here.

  • Voting Local 2010,

    Super-city vote scam-accused named

    Thanks for the update...

    But from the same article...

Last month 306 people were removed from the electoral roll after an electoral enrolment centre audit found they were living at addresses they had given in Papatoetoe, South Auckland.

You know... I'm pretty sure thats exactly what they didNT find...

Sure, we all make typos, but when they change the meaning 180 degrees... you'd think someone at the paper would spot it...

  • Hard News: Yet More Hobbit,

a major part of "good faith" bargaining is not to tell blatant and easily disproved falsehoods about other parties.

Not just other parties... also, yourselves...

    You forgot to mention

"we are too a registered body, stop telling lies about us"

    followed by

"hang on, we'll have that legal status thing sorted in a couple of days"

Is not the way to engender confidence that you can tell the truth, let alone organize yourselves.
