Does anyone else get the impression that the WRC could be the downfall of this pathetic Govt.? With all the shoving around Auckland has received over the Supershitty, not to mention the debacle of ECan, the ongoing embarrassing antics of McCully and Haden and now the dancing naked nubiles at the pre-match fund-raiser at Eden Park (a place where participants can "drink as heavily as possible".) on Thursday, however "tastefully done" and after, more binge drinking in Kingsland , god they were revolting.
A Herald Poll in today's edition, under the Heading "Do you back the All Blacks?" reveals a startling result;
Absolutely - never miss a game (28%)
Yes - I support them (34%)
Don't care (26%)
No - I hate rugby (12%)
Putting the "Don't cares" with the "I hate Rugbys" gives a surprising 38%. Woe betide any Government that ignores such a poll. -
And then there's the Transport I can imagine there will be some pissed off publicans in Newmarket and Mt Eden knowing that all those potential punters are being whisked past their doors and on to Shonkey's "Par-Tay Centrale" on the windy waterfront.
Transport authority spokeswoman Sharon Hunter said her organisation's top priority was "to move crowds away from Eden Park as quickly and expediently as possible".
"We've done some patronage analysis from other games and discovered that people who get off at Newmarket are a minute number - very, very smallPatronage analysis? So they have contacted a good sample of the potential visitors and asked them if they would like to disembark from our imaginary trains somewhere other than the Central City?
I bet they have... NOT! -
A little update on the response to the Gulf oil spill...

I say give Paul the Octopus a hammer or eight and let him fix the shed.

why don't they just buy Avondale Racecourse?
And after all the crap beer we could have the trots.

bemiserable.; Adjective, far from plesant, "The Auckland waterfront in September is bemiserable"

screening the games on our expansive new deck.
Do I get to tender for said job? ;-)
On the subject of the shed, I see nothing wrong with keeping an old shed, that undoubtedly has some history all be it not much, but 8 million dollars? who the hell did those costings? a few relpacement timbers, maybe a new roof. It sits on its own piles and was designed to hold a lot more weight than the few dozen people that will brave the cold to go ther to drink either Lion Red or Export Gold (I doubt any smaller breweries will get a look in) The 17 million stated includes the strengthening of the wharf in general and has bugger all to do with the shed. 8 fucking million is a joke, who's getting the back hander here?. -
Those pictures of the MRI mishaps got me thinking. Do those machines use permanent magnets or do they just leave them powered up for some reason? I always assumed they powered them up when the victim, sorry, patient was already inside.

So, there seems to be four of us using Opera. I had a good look at Chrome when it first arrived and was struck by its speed and the separated processes for each tab. I had a dig around in its guts and saw a fledgling OS, albeit one based on Cloud computing. I still have Chrome as my default browser, it's so damned snappy it's silly to use anything else for opening .html files (Bank acknowledgements saved for reference for instance)
However, Opera has got me with its features, server, built in mail client, notes (for saving quotes with an automatic link back to the page they came from) Contacts list/address book, Voice control (which I never use) and many more goodies. Oh, and it had tabs before anyone else too. And it's totally customisable and ...and...

C'mon man jesus isn't all bad.
His policy of free kai moana and bread for all wouldn't go down well with the aspirational middle class.
The whole wine from water thing might upset the powerful anti-liquor vote,
And buggered are the Café owners, come to think of it throw in the telephone sanitisers, stick them all on the B Ark and were ready for the second coming.
