  • Up Front: Something Chronic,

I was totally ignorant of all this, it's like a bolt from the blue as it were.
I thought it was normal to feel like shit all the time, the human condition or something, damn.
I contracted Glandular fever in my mid to late teens, the doctors told me I would be lucky to reach the ripe old age of 21, they were either wrong or this is all a dream, sometimes it's hard to tell and, to be honest, hard to care. Thank you Emma and thank you all, I am in tears now and I'm not sure why.

Also, my WINZ designated doctor didn't 'believe' in CFS.

I believe it's part of the selection process that they think all sickness is malingering.

  • OnPoint: Like a hole in the head,

I just posted tis on the wrong thread... I think. But hey... Whatever

I just had drinks with a Hungarian couple who were granted work permits on the basis of being economists. I asked them the basis of world currency, they told me it was based on gold. I am going to build a house in Bretton Woods and vanish into thin air.
Boy are we fucked or what.

Wow. Graham Bell tearing strips off Greg O'Connor

Talk to your cabinet ministers before they open their big mouths. Ok, so you were overseas, but...

All this could have been different if Mr. Bell had stuck to inventing the telephone.
    But seriously but.
Cost benefit analysis is all very well until you realise that both the cost and the benefit are abstract and at very best, subjective.
Cost. Cost in human lives or suffering, cost in lost production by way of diversion of resources, cost in terms of finance or cost of finance, in terms of lost revenue through missing more effective alternatives?
Benefit. Benefit to the individual, the community, society at large, voter appreciation. I won't go on, I'm sure you get my point.
The blatant disingenuity of this Government and ,dare I say it, any Government, to bandy figures about to justify their ideologically driven agenda to a gullible voter base is exasperating.
Money, in itself, is worth nothing. It is merely a representation of the amount of effort expended to achieve an outcome, or at least it should be.
If you apply the principals of thermodynamics to economics it makes more sense (well to me at least). Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. Money is no different.
I guess I'm either up for a good discussion or a good smacking. ;-)

  • Hard News: Changing the News,

I think I'm actually over "News" I mean, unless it's going to affect you or yours, It's just so much gossip and advertising. And don't get me started on the ads. I am so glad I have a functional ad blocker on my P.V.R.
Last night I watched Generation Kill, not to everybody's taste I know but damned good production values all the same, same chaps as The Wire apparently. But the ad breaks, sure the P.V.R. cuts out the ads but you still notice the frequency. At one point I thought there was something wrong with my set-up but when I checked, I found there were 5 minutes of ads every 5 minutes in the last half of the program. How people manage to watch a show like that I will never, luckily, know. Oh well, that's what you get when your "Public" broadcaster has to run at a profit for the MP's to live on the pigs back I guess.

the Roots of Desire For Oblivion.

Couldn't help thinking... "What a great name for a Reggae Band"
And as for drug taking MP's, I think it should be compulsory, I mean, how long ago was "The Enlightenment"? That gave us so much, the French Revolution, The Industrial Revolution and all kinds of super arty stuff.
Blessed be the drug takers, for they have truly seen the light. ;_~

  • Hard News: The McCully Touch,

Yes D.R. indeed, Cap 'n' trade or Cap in Hand, it's all the same to me.
The broken window parable also applies to my argument when you consider that the Glazier would, in all probability, spend his profit in a shop.
And, oh yes, isn't our Department of "Justice" an embarrassment?. I waited 13 years to receive reparation for an assault and in that 13 years was harassed over a traffic infringement which occurred after the sale of a car (it was parked outside a wreckers yard without warrant or rego. for a few hours) I had to dig up the paperwork at least once a year. they told me I was lucky as most people don't keep records that long, go figure.

  • Hard News: The McCully Touch,

many of the fundamentally irrational believe that absolute power comes from the barrel of a Caran D'Ache fountain pen.

I thought they made Crayons, never mind.
In other stupid National Govt. News...
You know when they tell us that we can't afford stuff like decent wages for those involved in Health care and Education at the same time as cutting taxes to the wealthy?. Well Crusher Collins says Prison will bring $1.2b to region. I guess all those Doctors, nurses and teachers spend their hard earned cents abroad then.
    C**TS.
