  • Hard News: Changing Times,

How many people does one need for a lobby group ?

One, if you plan on lobbying via the New Zealand Herald.

  • Hard News: Everyone's a critic,

Ah yes, apart from the wait times (probably reasonable for a small restaurant to be honest), I recall the name did make me just a bit uncomfortable.

  • Hard News: Everyone's a critic,

Me Ne Frego on Manukau Road is bloody good I reckon. It's not expensive, but serves good, hearty food in big portions. The Tira Misu is a little bit disapointing, but as far as I can tell the rest of the menu is top notch.

Seconded - wait times can sometimes be a bit long but otherwise we've found this place excellent.

Many thanks for the tickets Radar - 'twas a great night out. The closing tale was particularly good and the boxthorn machinery impressed...

  • Hard News: Dude, what just happened?,

Classifying "Up In Smoke" as objectionable material?

Given how long they've taken with SOG, we might have a bit longer before they pick Pineapple Express as other than an innocent comedy of fruit logistics.

Does one develop tolerance? Any other bike users know? Do I need to be careful with this shit?

You'll know you've got an endorphin problem on the one day when you *don't* ride in to work, and you find yourself on the point of falling asleep at half past ten in the morning.

I'm already having to ride 10km most weekdays for a proper high, so I'm hoping I catch it before I end up buying a road bike and the habit becomes really destructive.

"More than 100 commercial cannabis growing operations linked to the businesses were found and dismantled during the operation.

A further 19 were discovered yesterday, and police also seized methamphetamine, LSD, ecstasy and firearms."

I may be reading too much into the coverage but it seems like this stuff about "meth, acid, E and guns" has been rather too casually or vaguely lobbed into the stories, making it seem as if these extra bits and pieces related to the retailers themselves, rather than to various grow-ops whose cultivators might have purchased something from one of the retailers.

Several people I've discussed this with actually thought that these other items were found in quantity on SOG premises.

  • Hunting Fails,

Ah yes Sam, the Semple tank is actually in the show. I had to track down some images for it off a Russian website. In many ways it is a great example of the nature of these unsung stories.

I remember a model of it at Auckland Museum as well, tucked away in one of the upper galleries.
