  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Also, note how the solar flare was visible in Sydney and London at the same time. The. Same. Time.

Much as I would hate to give this adaption any credit for anything other than annoyance I have to point out that a solar flare of that intensity would be seen over the whole planet as it would ionize the entire atmosphere before ripping it off the planet entirely, it would also cause more than just blindness. Credit where credit's due? They did liken the London skys as being "Like the Aurora Borealis"
And yes, the Global warming nonsense was one of my other AND!!! 's Surely carnivorous plants would produce Methane?

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Who else watched "Day of the Triffids" last night and thought "Well, I don't think I'll bother finding out when part two is" ?
Apart from the annoying trait that Mini Series all seem to have these days, showing clips from part two that give away the cliffhanger ending of part one, this suffered from the slight defect of being totally crap.
Changing the meteor shower of the original story to a "Solar Flare" without doing a Google search of Effects of Solar Flare at the same time changing the occupation of the female protagonist to a "Radio Reporter" (So she knows how to make the BBC transmitters work) would make John Wyndham rotate in his tomb.
Patrick Harbinson should stick to writing such poo as ER and Law & Order and leave our beloved classics alone. Character development is minimal at best for the main protagonist and non existent for any others, even the Triffids are glossed over, no explanation of why they are called Triffids? they are supposed to have THREE legs FFS not some tangled mass of Art Department foam rubber tentacles. AND!!!

That is certainly one of the stand-out things about homicide in this country: very, very few go unsolved.

Well shall we call that unpunished? I am not alone in thinking there maybe some people in the slammer who may not be innocent but may not be guilty of the crimes they are being punished for.

What gets me is the continuous "Think of the Children" waffle that people come up with about this sort of thing, hey, the kids they interviewed were all "yeah, cool, tits" But perhaps these kids have had a fair bit to do with tits in a nutritional scenario. Are these people worried about a feeding frenzy?.

While I'm here can I get your pigeons to look after my cat for a while?.
I had an old Mate back in the UK, who whenever someone complained about it being a cold and wet windy night, he'd say " Good night for a burglary".
His explanation for this was that when it's cold and wet and windy it is good cover for those sneaking about.

He had thoughts about people with high walls around their houses too. "once I'm over that wall I have all the time in the world to break into that house" he used to say with a wicked smile.
So, while you sit in your house with its high security walls and gates when that wind starts a howling and the rain a starts a squalling, lock your doors pull down the shutters and be afraid, be very afraid.

    Annette King and the Moon.
This is the best I can find and if this is all there is then it is a case of DPF making shit up.

In which he links to this as his proof.

Police Minister Annette King yesterday visited the scene of the shoot-out in Flat Bush, south Auckland.

She said the hot summer and full moon were to blame for the recent "unusual events" that had created mad January in south Auckland.

"It's well documented within the police - and we've had a long hot summer - and the view is that we often get things happen in this month that we wouldn't have happening in winter."

Family and economic stresses of the festive season added to the strain.

"Over the holiday Christmas period we traditionally have an increase in family violence, people are at home, and there are the stresses and strains of having your relatives staying and financial pressures. They are not easy to address issues unless we ban Christmas and January."

There is no direct quote about the moon.

I don't know about anyone else, but I expect politicians of all stripe to try and spin crime stats to their advantage. I'd just rather they not use crime scenes as a background.

Come on Craig, where else are you going to find reporters other than at a "Live Cross"
    @ Matthew
    Got references for those figures?
Just the sort of stuff I like to throw back at people who are trying to scare me into voting for ACT.
