I agree with what Simon's said. It's appalling that a lot of these master tapes, etc, have gone west.

At least we can comfort ourselves that the Hocken Collections in Dunedin has at least one copy of every recording ever released by NZ musicians over the decades.

Great game. Norma Plummer is a sour old trout, isn't she ? A real sore loser.

  • Southerly: At Last, David Haywood's 2010…,

Good idea. But it'd be more successful if you also included NZ musicians, artists and other creative types as well.
I reckon this would be good for business overall, e.g someone wanting to buy a CD might be intrigued by a book they also happened to notice whilst getting the CD and splash out on that as well.

It won't be nice, but I've a horrible feeling he'll go absolutely troppo very soon after going back on air. What the fall-out from that will be, I don't know.

  • Hard News: Morning in Auckland,

Apart from the actual ill-judged comments, I'd love to know why TVNZ have suspended him. In the past they've let his comments pass, but I'd love to know what made push come to shove.

Maybe there's been a few companies threatening to pull their advertising ? Money talks and all that...

Or maybe it's just spin and PR as usual. *sighs*.

  • Hard News: Morning in Auckland,

Henry's apology was a typically gutless cop-out. He said "if I offended" when he and TVNZ damn well know he did offend.

  • Hard News: Morning in Auckland,

The fallout from Paul Henry's disgraceful suggestion that our governor general was somehow less of a New Zealander because of the colour of his skin

Henry's like the sort of clown you sometimes see in pubs and bars. He's the bloke that gets pissed and tries to pick a fight, but most people just ignore the boorish behaviour and walk away.

But, as is often the case, such people usually meet their match. He'll go to pick a fight - and have the crap smacked out of him and thrown out of the pub on his sorry arse*.

When that does happen, there'll be a lot of happy people. I just hope it comes sooner, rather than later.

*Being metaphorical here people, of course.
