I'd pay a hundred dollars to watch tiddly-winks if it was amongst 50,000 people who sang
One of my favourite things in London in the early 90's was going to the football & joining in with all the singing & chanting. Pre all-seated stadiums.

I have used the Quality/Comfort Hotel in Cuba St several times and have enjoyed the made-over heritage building (its a registered Historic Place) in a relatively central/convenient location
I concur. Very convenient & reasonably priced. Can be noisy if you get a Cuba St side room lower down.

Steven Malkmus was moved from The Studio to the KA. Slow ticket sales maybe? Yeah - too packed, couldn't get to bar or loo. Stuck doen the back. Luckily I'm taller than most so could see the show, but it wasn't much fun anyway. Punters pushing past constantly to try to get to the bar/loo.

Another +1 for retiring from stage at an early age. Mum in many many musicals, Grandad sang on the radio, other side Grandparents all over the Gisborne stage. Me & my sister - animals run when we break out the singstar.
Mum also did the males makeup for years at reperatory. Our house smelled of greasepaint & coldcream for weeks while shows were on. Hanging out backstage & helping with props was a great excuse to be able to stay out late with the actors. -
Forest & Bird Bird of the Year
I voted for the Ruru (morepork) as we were out a French Bay in the evening last month, & they were out in force. Wonderful to be sitting listening to the lap of the wavelets & the Ruru's calling.

Now - off to Villa Maria estate for a wine in the sun. One of the very few good things about working near AKL airport

Completely OT. But sad news - artist Julian Dashper passed away yesterday.
