I’m just so glad that this stuff was leaked to Nicky Hager and not Winston Peters.
Good point Roger , mind you Winston seems to like big wads of paper in wine boxes, maybe he would not know what to do with all the digital files.

If he grows a pair and demotes here, he then runs the risk of her spitting the dummy and attempting to replace him sooner or later
Intriguing dynamic here , why does Key seem so reluctant to throw Collins to the dogs? He's had more reasons to do that with Collins than he did with Williamson.

It was satisfying to hear a proper grilling….
Yeah that was so satisfying to hear Guyon going hard trying to nail Key down.
I had been wondering if Espiner was a national apologist but this interview gave me hope.
Did it actually reveal anything new? Not sure and maybe the full frontal "yes or no" approach will never actually reveal anything. -

Richard, yes my moral compass points to having a free and healthy fourth estate. if the PM is pre determining his response to a unknown written critique rather than a thoughtful and balanced response to the actual information, we do have a disconnect in this vital process.
William you are a gentleman and a scholar .
I may have been tempted to use much dirtier language to describe the circus of political manipulations before us but that would be to join them. -

The actual aim is the overthrow of democracy, and it’s replacement with a plutocracy with a charade of democracy.
Are we there yet Tom?

Key should know the contents of Nicky’s critique and act or react accordingly, not ‘be in damage controll’. Manipulation and subsequent suppression of the media is antithetical to a healthy democracy, it is an ugly and anachronistic part of right wing politics.
But William you are projecting your own moral compass onto Key. If everything in Hager's book is true then why are we so troubled that Key is using damage control and spin techniques to defend him and his party.

While I am shocked at the level of manipulation exposed here I am preparing my tender sensibilities for the greater shock to come. That even this book will make bugger all difference to the election outcome. How many voters will buy the “nothing to see here, the bad guys are over there” line? Heaps I reckon.
I heard a great line in Ireland once during an election, “Politicians they are all a shower of shite” . Ironically this line may confirm to our many non voters, its just a waste of time.
Will the spin doctors win?

Handy list of the ways the Nats will try to spin their way out of trouble:
