Can I just say....
All these statements about abusers...
They want this, they set out to do that, their goal is....
These statements are all worded in a way that suggests the abuser is conscious of what they are doing. They behave that way on purpose, they have a plan...
I'm just guessing, but I'd suggest that while they do do those things, affect their targets of abuse that way, that the only an extremely small percentage are aware of it in the way suggested by those statements.
My point is not to excuse the evil behavior.... but to help those who do those things to recognize it in themselves, and hopefully change.... if you make statements that are accusatory, rather than just explanatory, you'll get a far higher "but I'm not like that" response... which only helps it continue...

I mean, "at war"? Do the people in that video look like they're at war?
No, but the words of the song do suggest it... "if you're going to go to war, well, you've already got one" (or similar)

MH, I see your point......
But also, I think it has value in the "we're not going to take your abuse any more" message....
It's not just to help gays feel better, it helps bolster the resolve of "the middle ground" who are neither gay, nor anti-gay, but maybe need a little nudging into rejecting or standing against the anti-gay.
And it also helps those who are not (yet) hateful, but are bought up in families or parts of society that espouse those views, to see the bigotry for what it is, and that it's wrong.
You dont have to be the target of all those "fuck-you"s unless you want to be, and maybe hearing how it makes others feel will help you not decide to stand there?

Very cool base-ball bat tricks.

By which I meant to say... not just an amenable way to pass time, but actually better value than the the last section.

Great show last night... I was looking forward to the swearing bit of the show (and it didnt disappoint). but your middle section was really interesting and good food for thought.

Perhaps the best explanation of why cussing isn't necessarily gratuitous: "Fuck off doesn't mean "go away" it means "FUCK OFF."
Ah, Mr Connolly...
I saw him do a variation on that discussion where he pointed out further differences...
"Go Away is for when your child is coming towards you with an ice-cream and you're wearing your best purple velour trousers... Fuck Off is for the Mormon knocking on your front door"

My winter coat is, by several miles of daylight, the most complimented thing I have. If you added together all the aesthetic praise I've received for my cat, my games cabinet and my breasts, it still wouldn't come close
That might be slightly related to the fact that people may note the awesomeness of something, but repress the desire to pass compliment out loud, if they feel it might make them look like a "lecherous bastard" or "jealous bitch".

Whereas Air New Zealand seems to think its a great idea. WTF?
I'm just counting down to the complaints.I went searching and found...
http://www.nothingtohide.co.nz
There's not much to complain about there.... I think it's actually quite well done?

Though again, BBC, why UK-only, what would be the point?
Perhaps they feel that as the UK tax-payers have funded it, they are entitled to it for free, and the rest of us should pay?
