but Twitter in NZ still seem to appeal more to people who are interested in technology for its own sake. As strange as it may seem, there are people out there who don't know what Webstock or Foo Camp are, think that CSS is a Brazilian electro band,
Weird, I'm on Twitter for all the free music links and vicariously enjoying @johubris's weekend adventures.

M'illumino d'immenso.
Which Harry Potter spell was that one?

Don't take away the long posts on PA. I really like the way several subjects can create a sort of thematic feel and I think it also helps broaden the general conversation with threads meandering off on tangents, finding esoteric links and ambling back again.
One subject posts and the attendant one note comments day after day after day would be so depressing (glares at Kiwiblog).
Re Twitter, I agree it's a superb communication tool and the more I use it the more it reminds me of the better aspects of the early days of Usenet with many disparate contributors on a load of subjects creating a kind of meta-conversation. What I've found is that my friends who love Facebook and live on it don't tend to like Twitter whereas I find Twitter works perfectly for me and rarely jump into Facebook. And no one on Twitter asks me what sort of beer I am.
It's @peterdarlington by the way, for anyone on here that I haven't managed to track down yet.

Second most reviled figure - Judith Ablett-Kerr. For going beyond her brief of providing a defence in this farcical case
I wonder though if they went for the 'weird narcissist losing it and not be in control of his actions' defence because that was literally all they could come up with, he was done bang to rights otherwise. Once they'd made that decision it was important to let him loose on the stand and make as big an arse out of himself as he could to back their position up?
If so, it was pretty nasty for her poor family to have to witness and a strategy that was likely always doomed to fail.

It was a little more surprising (albeit for only a moment) to hear he has asked Guinness World Records to note his accomplishment.
LOL!
What were the defence thinking letting the guy run loose on the stand. Maybe they felt like they had a choice between Bob Hope and no hope anyway.

I'm loving the various incarnations of 'throbbing forehead' thunderous looks that this series is inducing in Ricky Ponting ........
Dude looks more like George Bush Jr every day.
Part of the Ashes appeal for me, (as well as seeing the Aussies getting beaten) is that the grounds are so damn good, just perfect places to watch and play cricket. They get big crowds, they still serve proper pints in a glass (in the members stands at least) and it creates a really nice vibe. Also, there just seems to be more on the line in this series, it is probably the top rivalry in test cricket.
Re Beckham, as mentioned, he's an East End lad from Leytonstone. He's not popular with my team as that's in our catchment yet ever since he was a little boy he only ever wanted to play for Man Utd. This is why, when he used to visit Upton Park with Man U, the Hammers fans used to speculate on mass that Mrs Becks had an avid enthusiasm for, ahem, the Greek way of avoiding conception.

I'd love to challenge Barry to a bike race up Parnell Rise...
@Bernard: If you do, make sure it's live blogged :)
