Also, anyone catch the news that the Warriors may be moving to Eden park. Just a possibility at this stage but apparently the royal commission on local governance has said that they need to rationalise stadiums and Mt Smart may get the chop (where to for the BDO?). Moves are already afoot by Dalton to see if they can make it happen. I'm a bit surprised to be honest because I actually see Mt Smart as being a better longterm option in terms of location as a super stadium. If the Warriors move there it virtually doubles overnight the number of well attended sporting fixtures at the ground which would cause a whole lot more grief in terms of the local residents.

Also Mt Smart can have massive stands built with f all issues about resource consent, it has a railway line nearby, it is handy to motorways, in an industrial area and relatively handy to drive to. Takes me 25 minutes from Massey way out west. Eden Park is about 10 minutes closer for me but then again if people are on the other side of Auckland the opposite applies.

I don't know if the 30% rule will have any effect on NZ.

Just looking at the current Stade Francais squad they have 41 players on their books (this is a slightly out of date wikipedia squad list) with 29 of them being French (70.7%) so they wouldn't have to do anything. Also their squad doesn't include a single NZer. It'll be the Argentinian players who may notice a difference as they pretty much ALL play their rugby in France.

Also most of the French sides have a player or two from random places like Cameroon and several from the likes of Italy, Scotland, the Pacific Islands... and it's THEM that will get the chop first, not the higher quality NZ players.

Toulouse have 23 French players out of 34 so would have to drop one foreigner to comply. And its a good bet it would be one of their Tongans or Fijians. Not a kiwi.

I'll be at the Warriors this avo to see if their B team can beat NZ B. Should be interesting just to see what the hell happens even if the game night struggle in terms of quality. But we will see...

  • Field Theory: So what are you doing in 2011?,

So the Warriors got twice as many for a practice game at North Harbour Stadium as the Blues got for an actual week 5 competition match tonight.

And SA are playing hard ball about starting the comp even earlier in the year.

Is it just me or the the NZRU completely and utterly fucked re the Super 14?

Going by previous form they will come up with another unsustainable effort that will result in them being even worse off in 5 years than they are now.

They are going to need to pull a miracle out of their arse. But who cares, nobody else does.

    Rock on Warriors in 09.

And re the world cup, if other towns want to bitch about the number of games in Auckland I suggest they go out and find a few more people to live in them. People in Tauranga can drive to Rotorua, or Hamilton, or Auckland to either Eden Park or North Harbour Stadium. That's 4 grounds within 2-3 hours drive.

  • Hard News: Effectively Friday,

"playing LIKE a bunch of f*&ing w&*kers" that should read.

Although when we are up against Aussie, SA, and England either/or will be appropriate.

You wouldn't hear that 220 second rant in any normal workplace. Any decent employer would be looking up employment law to find if they could skip warnings and just go straight to the firing stage.

And then re-shoot the entire movie.

Your ears must be good that they can see things. Have to get me some of them ;)

From the link that Craig posted:

**Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling**, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.

Now, the reason I know all of this is because the person that was there, felt that it should be made perfectly clear that Christian Bale was the utmost gentleman and cool guy on set. And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do. Not during a performance.

You don't need me to give you a link, it's all over the internet, I just felt that you should know what really went down - and that this particular outburst did indeed modify the DP's behavior - and for future DPs. Fuck with the lights before and after your actors are acting. Not during.

I would equate the type of situation Bale may have been in (and every scene is different for actors so they aren't going to be charged up for a whole movie) to all sorts of situations in sport when the participants are charged up.

But I look forward to the NZRU terminating an All Blacks contract this year for throwing a punch or Graham Henry to be on his bike because he told them at halftime they were playing a bunch of f*&ing w&*kers.

Any rugby club I know would be shut down if the language, abuse and violence in the heat of the moment was treated along those rigid lines.

    Go the Blackcaps.

    C'mon, he was just acting!!!!

I mean fighting those bloody regenerating terminators using conventional weapons just wasn't working was it? We all saw that. They just needed a damn good talking to and Bale delivered.

  • Hard News: Effectively Friday,

"child rapist"? Bit of a strong comparison. According to the link posted earlier the guy had been poncing around with lights quite often and had been talked to by Bale about it and now did the same thing in what sounds like his most intense scene in the movie. Fuck it, I would have gone ballistic as well.

What probably deserves more attention (but won't be getting it from police because they dropped the case as a conviction was unlikely) was the alleged assault a few days later in a London hotel room on his sister and mother.

  • Hard News: Effectively Friday,

What kind of message is Key sending out here that we should just turn a blind eye and don't worry about it when we are the victims of violence? Albeit at the bottom end of the scale. Don't slip into the default NZ bloke macho position without realising it.

    Make a stand John.

    It's not OK.
