  • Hard News: Start with your conclusion,

...iit sounds like our usual practice as a callow nation of trying to make a taonga pay for itself, rather than nourishing and honouring it.

I've thought it often but finally must say it:

    Sacha for PM.

    Or President.

  • Cracker: Of Racks and Ratings,

It's almost as if they wanted another Transpower eccentric or serial dog killer fanatic to up their ratings.

C'mon, really? Do you honestly believe that mere ratings trump the journalistic integrity of our must trusted media personalities? For shame...

Anyway, am I the only one who would quite fancy seeing Damian, Pip, Russell, and JC (popping over from te other thread ) have a wee chat about the state of current affairs at 7 in our fair land? Someone could invite the Sainster too.

It would be topical and controversial and the comments from the stalls will be priceless.

    Please....

Your quote comes from Elbert Hubbard

  • Speaker: Towards a realistic drug policy,

"There's this other kind of pot, that's like super-pot, that the guys have mentioned."

    "Salvia?"

    "Actually, yeah, that was it."

" Definitely talk to me before you go near that."

I've been wondering about this stuff for a while. What's the bad word?

  • Speaker: Towards a realistic drug policy,

So I'd vote in favour of it being served in cannabis R18 or similar cafes, rather than legalised for general private use.

This, to me, seems the obvious short-to-medium term solution. Good for tourism too :) Long-term, as the population gets used to the idea and drug education is ramped up, I see decriminalisation as inevitable.

Prohibition of cannabis in NZ is demonstrably ineffective and, with regard to alcohol, hypocritical in the extreme. Especially so when looking at the relative social harm the abuse of each substance causes.

My mother drank herself to death over 30 yrs. I often wonder what her life would have been like if she'd had pot as a legal/medical substitute.

When I was a very young librarian with my hair in pigtails....

Call me a perve but I'd read any story that started like that :)

One of the dubious benefits of my partner and I deciding not to have kids is that we'll never have to try and explain to them why the majority of earth's population just didn't give enough of a fuck.

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

And if you do go down to get tested, what constitutes a failed test? Are there established limits? And, if so, does being below said limit but still guilty of having measureable traces leave me liable for a charge of 'being high at some stage recently'?

Enquiring minds want to.........what were we talking about again?

  • Field Theory: All White on the night,

My voice is ragged, my head hurts.

I've been to half a dozen big events at the Caketin and last night's crowd was by far, by a long, long way, the most impressive I've witnessed.

It really was a magnificent occasion.
