  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery,

When our annoying troller named 'jack'
Promised us he'd never come back
Our 'twisted selves' all really knew
He was hitting refresh despite his adieu
To see if anyone had noticed his lack

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery,

There once was a troll here named 'Starrow'
Who carried water for Key in his barrow
On the eve of the election
    He changed his direction
And fled from this place like an arrow

So Key didn't publish the name of his staffer who passed the SIS emails to (spit) Slater ... because he wanted to protect his privacy .... the rest of us apparently don't deserve privacy, on planet key it's apparently only available to National party toadies

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery, in reply to Jake Starrow,

I know there are no such words as “bitter” or “cynical” or “envious” or phrases such as “chip-on -the-shoulder” on Planet Key.

so I guess Judith's now on a different planet then

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery,

We have a parliamentary democracy - we don't vote for the PM - we vote for parties who in turn choose their PM and cabinet - they can even kick out a PM mid term and appoint another without holding an election - all they have to be able to do is convince the GG that they have confidence and supply

This is not the USA with a president, this is a parliamentary democracy, we elect our ministers, not give their jobs to our best mates or highest fundraisers - people who focus too much on the cult of a particular party leader are obviously unclear on how our democracy really works

Ben: yes that exactly - I've long thought that to move the centre a little you need a long lever at the extremes, I don't mind being really radical even if my ultimate goals re more modest

(Though I do really want to live in Ian's NZ, or maybe next door)

In some sense it was a little bit of a golden age (at least in context) - it was only a few years before under National's Holyoake Radio NZ was forbidden from reporting on the anti-Vietnam war demonstrations passing by their studios

Oh no people were much angrier in '81, we'd been out having our heads beaten by the cops all winter, just for trying to point out that what rugby was doing in our name: supporting a racist murderous regime

Key convinced me last week that likely the best thing I can do for my country on Sat is vote for for IM,

BTW I sat down in the pub on Tuesday night with a bunch of coders, all people who deal with security in one way or another and I basically made this same point, every single person at the table said they'd come to the same conclusion
