There are many questions, but only one answer... "The market will provide!"
The moment the market Trotskyists see their cherished dogma disintegrate in front of them, they go into denial. If those in denial weren't so deadly serious, they'd probably be stand-up comedians.

Your bridge has been privatised.
I lol'd.
Special Offer! Bridge toll down to $450 one-way! But hurry, this offer won't last!

I think some auto-formatting buttons as used in Wikipedia edit-boxes would do the trick. Also embedding JPGs, GIFs & PNGs.

I think Russell ran it all brilliantly and I hope he manages to get more Key clones or mavericks to front and defend their portfolio decisions.
John Roughan of the Granny Herald would probably be the royal flush.

It's all very well for Coleman to mock "academics" (I may occasionally have done that myself) but there's a point where it becomes anti-intellectual. They need to start paying attention to data.
Sounds like the "these guys take pride in being ignorant" level of anti-intellectual...

While Hard News isn't 100% perfect, it's still one of a handful of oases in an intellectual Sahara. Nonetheless I do think it can be harnessed more often as an outlet for real action, as the S92 Blackout illustrated.
The odds seem daunting in the face of an anti-intellectual tsunami. Al Capone seemed unstoppable back in the 1920s, but the chink in his armour was the IRS.

To brighten things up a bit...
A couple of years back I stayed at the Rainbow Hotel not far west of the Sky Tower during the Armageddon Expo. It's a well-kept place that's perfect bang for your buck. Don't be put off by the Engrish on the website - I personally find it an added charm.

Should I just download and apply SP1, or will bad Windows craziness befall me?
Vista SP1 is an improvement. Even then, it's still a case of "the Ow starts now!"

From my experiences in the mid-1990s at an 'Ivy League' secondary college in ChCh, I had to put up with more than my fair share of anti-intellectual dicks who didn't always fit the jock stereotype. Yet at the same time the nerds wouldn't have been seen dead with them either.
During the 6th form several of these arsehats got busted for substance abuse at an out-of-school party, and the incident made it into The ChCh Press.
