  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide to Parenting,

AMST106 was my gateway to complete unemployability (though with English, History and Classics as my other subjects I didn't really have far to fall).

I remember my stupid plunket-sponsored coffee group where everyone was discussing how to get their (under one-year-old firstborn children) into "good schools" so they could get "good degrees" and therefore well-paid jobs and being looked at like I was the prophet of Satan when I said I'd rather my kid just found the thing that made him happy.

  • Hard News: Food and drink,

I can make a quick and simple dahl in under 30 mins but it's pretty average. I have some more "authentic" recipes but their complexity and requirement for specialised ingredients is off putting especially when shopping with and cooking for little children.

  • Hard News: The Short and Long of It,

I am awful at scrabble and other spelling/anagram games and tend to play at the 3 letter word, primary school level. I much prefer cryptic crosswords and games that play with the sounds and meanings of words. Oddly though I rather like the "Take Five" in the Listener.

    Kong

That one's easy: Address them by name as the first thing in your post. If necessary, quote a snippet of what it is you're replying to. It's a good habit anyway, for disambiguation, and other-reader convenience.

I do that. I even do that on sites where you reply to individual posts rather than the whole thread. What I mean is having a way of indicating that a thread contains a reply to something I've posted so I don't commit the inadvertent discourtesy of failing to respond where I should.

  • Hard News: The Short and Long of It,

Top of my list would be something to indicate which comments have and haven't been read - I've sometimes given up on longer, fast moving, threads because I just can't figure out where I'm up to.

No to threading but a way to directly reply to posts and maybe to notify people when they have been directly replied to would be good.

Folic acid mints would work. Young sexually active women generally value fresh breath highly and morning sicky women are often helped by peppermints.

It shouldn't be this hard to be green and vegetarian and non-stinky.

I assume "fuck it it fits me" will also produce high-waisted jeans with room for actual hip/bottoms?

  • Up Front: NSFW,

The combination of penes on this thread and the two other PAS headings I can see on my other tabs being "The Peter Principle" and "A Very Simple Stroke" is almost too perfect to be co-incidence

I read "caution" on the back of milk trucks and thought it was a brand of milk pronounced CAT-ee-on
