  • Field Theory: If he did it,

I'm not overly familiar with sentencing at all, and American sentencing in particular.... but 15 years seems rather high, no?

Despite the judge making a specific statement that it wasnt the case, you cant help but think there might be some extra time added to make up for what was missed the last trial, eh?

  • Field Theory: Intense Uniformity,

know of several families who only ever watch rugby on Sky because they can't afford the ticket prices

I know how much sky costs.... it's probably cheaper to go to the games!

  • Hard News: Deadly Exuberance,

¿When the OCR gets cut by 1.5%, how come the banks only drop their rates by 0.5% or 0.75% ?

The banks will claim they had already lowered their rate in anticipation of the coming drop...

Whether there's any truth in it, I couldn't say?

I've licked aerosol chocolate mousse off a guy's chest and not been flirting with him

    You were just hungry then?

  • Field Theory: The Return,

Could they make the Blues home and away strips any-more similar if they tried?

  • Hard News: They can see your house from here,

Just in case: cow pats fresh from a cow are about 2 degrees warmer that your blood temp. But very quickly they loose heat and 20 minutes later you loose on the deal, unless you want the job of warming cow-pats with your feet?

I'm not 100% up on the psycho-physical operations of this...

But I'm thinking, that as long as the cow-pat remains warmer than the surrounding air temperature, the foot inserter might feel like they are winning on the deal, even if technically incorrect?

    "mush"

Is there a word for when you make a typo and it turns out better or more appropriate than what you actually intended?

    Brilliance!

  • Up Front: Hellfire's a Promise Away,

Ah yes.... teaching the younglings how the universe works (huh- like I know?).

4 year old daughter.... "When I'm a mummy, who will be my daddy?" (ie. who will be the father of my child)
Me..."I dont know... you can choose who-ever you like."
daughter... "Will it be X,Y or Z?" (x,y, and z are boys at kindy)
Me..."It could be.... but you might not know them still when you are older, it might be someone you havent met yet. It will be someone you really love" (unstated-"I hope!")
Daughter "Can it be my brother?"....

    Ah... no...

    Congrats on your Civil Universary

  • Speaker: Database Nation,

    Comedy Airport security moment...

Unfortunately, not my own story, but relayed to me by a friend....

As an employee (admin/medical) of the armed forces, traveling to Port Morseby from Australia in a group of other NZ + Aus armed forces personnel.... having hand luggage searched for knitting needles and toe-nail clippers.... whilst having the rifle over the shoulder completely ignored...

Because of course, we all know that anyone with nefarious intentions on a plane is going to go for the small pointy things, not the bang-sticks!

  • Hard News: Just Friday,

I haven't read either article apart from what was excerpted here... so you've got more to go on than me.... (and I have no attachment to either the Listener or Ms Boniface to defend)...

I'm just saying that if you did that experiment..... 4 of the 12 might choose to include the "what was the kernel of realization that set you down this path" moment... and that those 4 might look a lot more like each-other than the others.

    But you're probably right :)
