Ah yes, Justine Henin; a contender in the worst sportsman / woman of all time award.
She'd be like the Ivan Lendl of tennis.

switzerland is not famous for its bad government either
No. It is famous for being a heavily armed, highly conservative, insular country with retrograde immigration laws, secretive mega-capitalist banks, the UN and some damn fine ski resorts.

Serena isn’t there yet, but I’d have thought she deserves to be compared by now.
I'd say that is not mentioned, because to do so would be rude to Venus. Cue variants of what James Ormond said to Mark Waugh repeated in various ladies locker rooms.
Also Serena spent alot of time injured and recovering during the mid-00s and Justine Henin spent a lot of time winning Grand Slam tournaments during the mid-00s, now Henin has retired and Serena is winning tournaments again.

It's been tried? Cool! Where?

Remember, democracy isn't about making good decisions, its about making our decisions.
Good government is about making good decisions. Direct democracy is (as I/S rightly points out) not about making good decisions.
Representative democracy allows the people censure over those empowered by the people, this disempowers politicians who fail to practice good government.
Direct democracy requires such oversimplification of government that bad government becomes almost inevitable and yet applies no censure to those who fail to practice good government. It is a recipe for bad government.

There can be no doubting, no consideration. If you are asked "who is the greatest tennis player of all time?" you have to say, Roger Federer.
Or Rod Laver.

As it neared 6.00 am I began to wonder if the idiots were about to cut the final in favour of some idiot breakfast show like they did the Warwinka game...

So, Twyford and Hide are both full of opportunistic shit?
I imagine we will be waiting a very long while before the merits of citzen referenda restricting NZ government asset sales gains inclusion in Labour Party manifesto. Opportunity knocks, after all what is good for the goose... and all that shit.

Carpet in a pub should be of the thick, highly absorbent variety.
And for bonus points, it should have an unfeasibly busy design on it so that it...
...hides the puke stains, preferably feature random specks of orange and yellow.

The oil trade is largely peaceful.
Indeed it is. A lot of major oil producers equip and operate brutally effective state security apparatus. And with the sort of resources the oil trade makes available it is hardly surprising that the resulting states are "peaceful".
For example just in the past week we have seen militia in Iran gun down demonstrations. The Sauds have a well funded religious body that is so effective the locals can barely even think of dissent as anything other than a mortal sin. Libya has crafted its dictator a personality cult enforced by an extensive secret police.

But unfortunately there is no such connection between being Recessed and Baked.
Stimulants for the Stimulus?
