Labours campaign was too diverse and complicated by all the policy they had to defend whereas I can't think of a single Nat policy. They were marketed more like a brand of soap or detergent an almost meaningless we're better than the others wrapped around "that nice Mr Key".
I would have had three main planks, build more houses, we've done it before and it helped John Key get where he is today.
A higher minimum pay to get people off welfare by paying them properly policy.
Attack the Nats continually on there economic mismanagement with the Country in debt to the tune of 88 billion and they want to cut taxes and make your kids pay for it later, are they mad?
Stay ruthlessly on message. -
At the end of the day all I want is for a Royal Commission into the handling of official information requests with recommendations that lead to a more impartial and timely system of release.
The people that have been using our public service for party political gain must be brought to account as it is a creeping and insidious assault on our democracy.
I know that it's easy to see partiality in our press however the lack of curiosity and analysis in some of the stories released and the partisan ties to the people propagating these mistruths are causing a lot of harm to our society. Some of the backdoor character assassination that has occurred is truly vile and damaging which has to be acted on. There is a lot of power in what information gets disseminated and the playing field doesn't look level .
These are the issues which I believe require a full and public airing as we need to stop the win at all costs mentality that is polarising our political culture.
I don't want the Americanisation of our electoral system with its money and shouting at each other polarities.
I do want a Government that looks to the long term good of the whole country both the citizens and the land itself.
We are all in this together and there seems to be some enormous difficulties approaching in regard of the whole planet which need to be faced with clear thinking and honesty. Business as usual wont suffice.sorry for the rantlet. Rob

Complicit in that they are fed political attack lines from a party without looking fully into the claims that are being made and why. Why did John Armstrong the Heralds senior political journo run a David Cunliffe must go article on a very flimsy basis that has been seen to be meaningless and John Key states that he is aware of more evidence and then it all disappears down the memory hole?
The role of the media in holding our Government to account for some serious misdeeds is a fundamental task that has got force in law and is now being relinquished for tattle about the vapid deeds of pop stars.
If the established news organisations aren’t up to the task then who?
Will it be the law of the jungle with wealth being the sole determinant of who gets to frame the direction we head in as a society with the occasional Nicky Hager putting himself in the firing line of a well organised campaign of vilification?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes etc.
Be you of the left or right this is of fundamental importance to our country. -

Why can't the Herald et-al do this sort of work with an explanation of what it means as far as politicking is concerned? The old style press seems to be comatose with content that is more at home in gossip rags than in a paper of record.
My ghast is absolutely flabbered for the Nats to engage in this vile and anti-democratic behaviour is beyond the pale. I don't agree with them on ideological principles but I always respected them for following a line that they believed in and playing a hard but fair game.
The problem is that those who are engaging in such behaviour are the ones charged with cleaning it up and it looks unlikely that this will happen especially with a complicit lazy fourth estate.
Perhaps a citizens initiated referendum to instigate a Royal Commission into all these matters could bring some pressure to bear on our leaders and keep it in the public eye. This is a matter that shouldn't be swept under the carpet and forgotten.

Would like to know what else our Mr Whaledump is holding in his back pocket and how well insulated he is from being discovered also what any court case would turn into if he was caught.
I want to see a full Royal Commission looking into all of the matters arising from dirty politics and subsequent whaledump releases. This is so necessary!
Is iPredict taking bets on Collins being convicted?
Can National enter Parliament on current polling without Winston First?

My presumption that these children of Tory Grandees seem to be lacking in the ability to earn an honest living.
Perhaps the parents could go back to whatever value based school they sent them to and ask for a refund or remedial morality lessons. Not a good recommendation for nepotism.
