  • Hard News: So far from trivial,

Now we will know what Veitch is referring to next time he mentions going out "on the lash".

On the issue of speculation it's a bit hard in this case as we have a 'respected' media outlet giving reasonably details errr... details while Veitch has said that not all the things being reported are correct. He could be referring to the DomPost or to random things he's hearing through the web.

But I don't know if anybody followed the link to the story about the 4 English rugby players I posted a couple of pages back. Turns out the allegations that it was a big sex romp with an audience weren't quite so true afterall. At least if the English investigation is anything to go by.

The players at the time had to remain tight lipped and were instructed to say nothing. It seems as though two of them walked in on a bloke having sex where "there was no element of voyeurism and they were "actually quite embarrassed" to have disturbed them".

That's a far cry from what was being implied in the media and various forums (yours truly being a guilty party). Who knows exactly what happened aside from those who were there and until we get admissions from those who were there or were directly involved it probably is better off to concentrate on the credible stuff rather than the 'extras'.

Especially given this article painting a rather different pitcure of events than I suspect most of us had in our heads thanks to the sketchy media reporting of it (eaarrghh).

If the show goes ahead they'll probably wing it like they usually do. The other week Jerry Collins was late for the show after missing a flight so they had a kid from the audience sitting in his place until he arrived.

I suspect though that people staying up for it may find they are watching something else.

On The Crowd Goes Wild it was funny watching Andrew Mulligan taking the mickey out of Mark Richardson 2 nights running for the text abuse incident involving him and Scott Styris.

  • Hard News: So far from trivial,

    Some conflicting stuff coming out.

Ridge saying he might not want to work with him again on Game of Two Halves, and advertisers Nufarm and Nature Bee are reviewing their support for the radio network if he stays on air."It's despicable. I've never been one to condone violence, especially violence against women. "In my book it's a no-no."

But TVNZ reportedly considering bringing him back after the Olympic coverage (which he was going to front).

And then there's the legal experts saying he could face "several years behind bars if convicted of the assault".

Quite frankly I don't see how on earth he can stay in his current jobs for at least a couple of years. Paul Holmes and Veitch had better be writing one hell of a redemption song.

  • Hard News: So far from trivial,

I see the Herald took their line from this...

"Exactly what did you do to her, Tony," one reporter called out after the departing star.

But since when did Tony Veitch become a "star" anyway? He's always been a pisspoor sports 'journalist' and I have never understood how he got to where he is, AND I AM a sports nut. Mind you looking at the sports journalists we have in this country I'd say it's a good indication of the size of our population and gene pool.

  • Hard News: Travelling Gravely,

Parenting classes should be either state funded and compulsory for first time parents and/or introduced into the school cirriculum.

That is a brilliant case of the misdirection you just referred to.

We can't even get through all the curriculum requirements properly now without adding more crap that has nothing to do with us into it. I teach teenagers about Ancient Rome, Native Americans, Government and Tourism Development (amongst many other things), and would rather not have the kids being taught about when to go to bed, what to eat, and how to paint a fence instead of tag it or teach their parents to teach the same thing. 95% of our students know all that stuff already and practice it as do their parents. Those causing all the grief are an incredibly small minority and to be patronising to those who are normal human beings because there's two punks in the class or a couple of hopeless parents (and I meet parents regularly who are 100% competent) is complete and utter BS.

Also as a first time parent I refuse to be forced to give up my time to learn what I already know.

Merrica, I was actually going to post that very clip by Leessang of Rush but opted for the others... Was in Korea when it came out and have a few of their albums. Probably their most catchy song, but they have a few other decent ones.
