The only hope we have is to develop sequestration tactics and examine ways to artificially cool the planet.
It'd be great if there was some kind of effective price signal to encourage the development of these technologies through (clearly unstoppable) unfettered capitalism.
Oh...

And for a depressing local connection...

It blows my mind that every time there's a news story about polluted rivers or what have you, someone's there to complain about the damage being done to our green image .
Oh God, this, a thousand times over.
Brings to mind the current Listener editorial, in part arguing that conservation land that noone sees doesn't really count.

I presume you meant *hic* :P
Sorry, perhaps not - for some reason read eeepc as "Epic", not "PC"...

Just read the article
I did, and couldn't find anything of this ilk:
stripping people of a secret ballot, an utter abomination and it is dear to their leftie hearts, you just don't know that they wouldn't try this kind of shit.
Maybe it's not there or maybe I just missed it. Can you maybe explain instead of just providing a bunch of links held together with incoherent rambling?

You'll have to slake your thirst with locally produced raygun madness by Dr Grordbot instead.
The Righteous Bison Indivisible Particle Smasher looks like a good deal - the only full-sized raygun on offer for under half a grand.
Not metal though, which kind of spoils the fun. Moneyed geeks may prefer the limited edition, made-to-order Ray Blunderbuss which is a metre long and sells for the price of a decent car.

The estimable Ryan Sproull had a beer with D4J in Christchurch and seems to have had an okay time.

Anyway, I doubt the costs were awarded against Easton because of the bank's highly paid lawyers, so much as it was just so obviously a silly case.
Should have said "a bloody stupid case against a bank" - I didn't mean it was a case of justice being bought outright by BNZ, just that bringing a poorly-researched and frivolous case against a serious corporate legal team tends to end in tears.
