This is an enjoyable read. Many quotable quotes including...
and a "mouse" (a small rolling box with a button on it)

After retirement from school teaching my father taught up at Paremoremo. He loved it mostly but he has some fairly hair raising stories from the time that the Black Power declared a "Education is Staunch" year and their subsequent motivational techniques...

Saw Bourdain and Gill at the Sydney Writers Festival yesterday, they were very funny - and bounced off each other brilliantly. They had Tony Bilson (long time Sydney chef) as the moderator/interviewer. Don't think he added too much, but he kicked things off I guess. A.A. Gill was pretty merciless when he asked any stupid questions which was entertaining.

One of my Aussie faves
I have it on vinyl somewhere in a box in my dad's garage - probably now a warped, cracked mess. Everytime I go home I look at the boxes but daren't open them...
On the H&C front it has taken me about 25 years to realize that "The Slab" is an ode to cunnilingus...

Plex is nice, playing around with it on my MacBook Pro I got a Movie playing out to the MacBook and a TV show playing to the iPad. No jitter at all.
The Plex iPad remote app is OK, but a little clunky - no coverflow!
All I want now is a Mac Mini with Thunderbolt to a NAS and faster processors for ripping DVD and BluRays. And oh yeah, getting a better tele.
Coincidentally, just last night I was at a friends place in the US who has a new Samsung 65" monster. We browsed YouTube straight on the TV and played back the AirNZ safety videos. Quality was quite exceptional.

I think you can expand your theory to the thesis of "What's wrong with novels?" I'm 2/3rds of the way through The Finkler Question and have been for 3 months. I haven't been helped in my quest when I asked my mother-in-law who has finished it - "Does anything happen?" to be told "No, not really"

Weird I'm not allowed to download the north and south app from the iPad app store (although it can be seen) but from my Australian iTunes account I got it from iTunes on my MacBook

I succumbed to the temptation a couple of weeks ago (Oz has had availability for a while). I'd been telling all and sundry that I didn't see the need for a device sitting between my iPhone and the MacBook Pro but I succumbed to some sort of consumer madness one Friday...
Where it has proved valuable is on a recent holiday - it web browsed, checked mail, played ripped DVDs for the kids and there were sufficient free games to keep the kids and the wife happy. A much better experience than lugging my work laptop around the place and then handing it over to all and sundry to wreck havoc.
