"Hey, fuckface. First of all, I want you to take a step back and LITERALLY FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!"
Tom Cruise makes up for a multitude of past sins. Not all of them, obviously, but some.

And as far as TV goes, The Simpsons replaced The Bible some time ago as the source that has a quote for any occasion.

"Hand me the keys, you fucking cocksucker." More than ten years old, but still a classic.
And yes, I can quote most of Star Wars verbatim, not because it's especially quotable, but because when I was six years old, my parents bought the soundtrack on LP (!), then copied it onto a cassette tape, which I listened to until it broke. Literally.
Apparently, my wife and her brother used to randomly fling quotes from Ghostbusters 1 and 2 at each other when they were kids: "Hairless pets -- weird." "Back off, man, I'm a scientist!" And so on.

I didn't actually follow the Hug-a-Ginga "story" at all, but did anyone mention that it's been around for a while? I don't know if it's always been a radio promotion, but this isn't the first year it's been on - I have blog posts on it from 2007.
I'm not sure what my point is, other than that the non-story is even more... non?

Also, I have the DVD set of Carlton Cuse's earlier show, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. (Bruce Campbell's finest hour). There's a DVD extra where Cuse and all the writers are sitting around discussing the show, and one of the writers says "so Carlton, what was The Orb again?" referring to the mystical object introduced in the pilot that was the MacGuffin for a lot of the show. Cuse looks a bit embarrassed and says "yeah, it was a... thing, with.. ah..."
In other words, the guy threw a gratuitous mystery into his show, with the intention of making up an explanation later. Hmm...

Indeed. It was like "all that stuff you thought was cool and relevant? It wasn't. We were just filling space with it."
Indeed. I never really watched Lost, but I kept up with what was happening online so I knew what other people were talking about. From what I can gather, Season 6 perfectly wrapped up the plots that were started in Season 6/end of Season 5. Everything else... quick, look over there! *legs it*

Season 2 of Fringe is worth checking out for the episode with Peter Weller and the 80s flashback episode, complete with 80s-style opening credits...

Charlie Brooker just described Gordon Brown as looking like "a haunted elephant". Brilliant.
I always liked Frankie Boyle's description of him as "looking like someone drew a sad face on a scrotum"...

Hell yes. I was actually looking at Thorpe's Wikipedia article this morning. Holy heck.
Holy heck indeed. Although, this is one of the most charming sentences I've read recently:
Norman Scott, a former male model, met Thorpe in 1961 while working as a stable lad.

I'm assuming that pronunciation MP3 is of a native Icelander and is thoroughly accurate - it's just that it sounds like someone saying "Eyafsmumblemumble", as though they don't know how to pronounce it either and are trying to bluff their way through... Nice to know that I was at least getting the first two syllables right, though.
