So they move the stage-show forward a few hours?
Fantatsic!
I guess the 10kW follow-spots and all the other stage lighting and sound equipment didnt consume the same power at 6:30 that they would have at 8:30?

The only other version I know substitutes "beans, beans" for "baked beans".
Learnt at primary school in the '70's. I heard about rationing from my parents but it was before my time... :)

Baked Beans are good for the heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart,
The more you fart, the better you feel,
So eat baked beans for every meal! -
Ok, I'll have to withdraw that accusation of an April fool prank.... Googling the woman's name finds many stories... She is a real person.
Sad.

Shep, you dont think that might be one of those annually recurring "special date related" stories do you?

Great writing thanks....
My co-workers wondered what was going on as "The Constipation Issue" had me in tears of laughter...

Personally, I find the whole "quarter acre" thing is a bit of a myth anyway.
Yes, quarter acre sections (thats 1010 sq metres) do exist.... but even before the infill housing of the last decade and a half, they were no longer the norm.
I don't know when sections that large stopped being the norm.... but many houses on "full sections" built in the 60's are only 7-800 sq m.
I understand the "quarter acre" is just short-hand for "single house on a decent suburban section"... but there are many perfectly desirable suburban houses/sections that are by no means high density that don't measure up.... What I mean is they ARE what people want or feel entitled to.... they fulfill the "dream"... they just don't fulfill the name we've given the dream.

Back to an earlier topic....
Two readers, including another journalist, described him as "frothing at the mouth". There was also a promise to dish it out to me in his next Herald on Sunday column. I sincerely hope he's calmed down by then.
Well, we can call him chicken, say he makes empty threats, or be charitable and suggest he simply calmed down and saw better of the situation....
But there's absolutely no mention at all of Russell Brown, Hard News, or blogging in general in Bill's latest column.
Good decision, I'd say.

At least they're arguing from strong principles, rather than "China is too big a country and too important in economic trade for us to boycott them", which seems to be what a lot of other people are saying.
If only they would actually come out and say that....
Generally, they say nothing of substance or change the subject, or harass the asking party.... because, like, you know, saying what you actually think might be inconvenient....
