  • Island Life: The World Is Full of Cu*ts,

David this post has really come in below what I normally see from you.
It's a bit of an Anti-Clerical whinge with little substance, so pointing fingers at Brian as being hollow, falls flat.

There is plenty wrong with both organisations, but an older middleage man who has quite a few pretensions not wanting a swear word said infront of him or his wife isn't an issue.

As for silence, its about respect for others & the sign so that those who are not familiar with church etique can move through without causing offence, as I'm sure they generally don't want to do.

St Francis & the blessing of animals happened last month, normally gets a human interest story on TV, pet lambs, dogs, etc. Anglicans & Catholics do this - great fun for the kids.

The gifts for Brian are gifts after all. It's the contracted tithings and there inforcement, along with the imposed excile to South Auckland that are of concern.

  • Discussion: Uncivil Rights,

Quite right, I don't know how his weapon exploded, but neither was it explained. Judging from the crassness of the comments in the article, ignoring the poor co-ordination which had one of their own in the line of fire. I'm taking an educated guess that he f&%ked up.

Labour & Phil Goff started the erosion of Rights and Nationals following suit.

I dispair at party politics and hope we can get a few good people in as independants or some assemblage of Social Justice (which the Greens seem to be leaving).

I want to get Samoa back on board as they were in 1964, and from their open the door to our sphere of influence in the Pacific.

  • Discussion: Uncivil Rights,

    Related issue -

AOS wear balaclavas to hide their identity for security issues or to ensure their future royalties are paid.

Gray killed 13 people and they're calling him a bad shot, that is crass in the extreme. The fact remains the AOS shot each other in the cross fire, so they're good shots?

Tim Ashton said he would have shot another guy but his weapon exploded. His weapon malfunctioned because of his poor maintaince; or he got nervous and planted the barrell into the earth and so when he pulled the trigger the weapon blew up as the gases couldn't escape. Either way not good.

Another story about evil women and helpless men spending excessive money on them.

Where is the snake and apple in this?
There is plenty of judgemental moralising.

I still think his girlfriend should be kept out of this.
That said as an issue of equity a member of the NZDF who dies overseas has the family paid out by the Govt $250000 as compensation. Of course he doesn't get to have his wife travel with him and I'm sure he foots the bill if she meets him halfway when on leave. He also has to take out expensive life insurance which doesn't cover acts of war.
I was told this by a guy very annoyed to hear Nick Smiths revelation about ACC payments for suicide at $1Mill.

I thought Hones walk-about in Oz was a good use of his time and made a few good connections. I disagree with him on a number of issues but I love his honesty, he hides nothing.

  • Up Front: White in Brighton,

Has the HPT arranged a mitigation payment sufficent to record the loss this development will have upon our heritage, of this iconic landscape?

Big BBQ up North and my mate was pally with these guys so I went over to say Hi and silence.
He later explained what had happened and that these guys were all about Maori and only Maori.

I can remember the one occasion I was ignored for being Pakeha. I turned to my mate and he had to explain what had just happened.
I had that "so that's what it is like' moment. Of course one event doesn't equate for the cumulative impact he experiences.

I can also remeber the one occasion I was abused for being Maori - which was so strange as to be funny.

Gentryfication is a bit of an issue.

Lyttleton for example has been preserved because it was poor & out of the way. Now it is valued for its Heritage and so the port workers move the other side of the hill to Woolston and the trendy middle classes move in.

Bryndwr is ripe for it too (has anyone heard the Realestate term Fendalton North?). If we can buyback the privatised state houses and build the community up (which won't take much) and keep it for those in need then we improve society as a whole. Need to keep Aorangi School open (about 2km from Fendalton School) and celebrate 17 Hollyford Rd (John Keys state home that could do with some TLC).
It's time to Blow on the Pie...
