  • Hard News: Shooting for the Moon,

rb, sounds like all this digging will be taking place in the suburbs.

any word on whether they'll also be stringing residental apartments?

lots of people with disposable income there, and the big players won't give us fibre...

  • Island Life: A pig this good you don't…,

The best government, in my view, is one that is modest about its own capacities, and carefully restrained.

    amen.

  • Speaker: China: Shaken and Stirred,

To deflect public anger or pre-empt an uncaring look (don't you think George Bush would do things differently if he knew then what he knows now when the levees broke in New Orleans?) and...

i accept all your points, but had a pedantism.

bush did know what he knows now before the hurricane hit. there is footage of a panel of experts telling him so, and he has that same look he had when told about the twin towers.

you know, the look that says, "wtf would jesus do?"

  • Hard News: Sunday's Perfect Storm,

He should be eating meals made from organic, locally sourced, in-season produce.

now that is cruel and unusual punishment.

especially round august/september when the only thing in season is freaking potatoes and kumara...

    so. much. stodge.

  • Hard News: In tha Hoodie,

you should see the fez! it got some rather strange looks from the hoodies in manners mall, let me tell you.

  • Hard News: In tha Hoodie,

I am not a fashion follower (this is right up there with stating I am not religious!) but my clothing - reguardless of ANY fashion context- is *always* practical, comfortable, easy-to-wear...

personally? i've always considered fashion an opportunity to make the vacuous relevant. </intellectual snobbery>

  • OnPoint: Media beat-off,

i stayed in an ante-bellum mansion in dallas that had swastika on the manyof the flagstones on the ground floor (the dining room, kitchen, etc).

apparently it was a navaho fertility symbol (or some such).

  • Hard News: In tha Hoodie,

Anyone over the age of 30 wearing a hoodie looks like a sad douchebag - ... - we can drink in bars and own property, yay!

bah. i grew up at the beach. we were wearing hoodies in the 80s and i'm wearing one right now.

mind you... i've all but given up drinking and own no property.

  • OnPoint: Media beat-off,

if for some reason I found a couple of grand lying around, would be to clear it which would increase my take-home pay.

i've thought exactly the same thing.

or, if a future government were to bring in some sort of minimal interest rate.

  • Hard News: Bean-Counting the Beat,

it is meros. and it's the funniest show i've seen in a long while.

i'm pretty sure meros and arthur meek are different people.

not that it should detract from the show - any more than mr slater enjoying it.
