  • Joe Wylie, in reply to Dean Papa,

It has a certain charm ...

There are certainly worse examples of the deathbed speech genre. Jacks's heavily medicated style of delivery had him sounding as if he was about to kark in mid verse. Highly resistable.

I, for one, would have been immensely cheered had he done so.

Excellent. I suspect it would be a hit. With the PA massive at the very least.

Seconded. Ska Back Benches theme while they're at it plz?

Didn't someone on PA request a Tomorrow People remix, like, ages ago? That would also be excellent.</bleg>

  • JacksonP,

I was just reminded of the existence of this 'super group'!

    It needs sharing.

I won't admit to dancing to it though, 'cause that would be a step too far.

  • 3410,

    the-beach-boys-best-new-song-in-40-years?

Ah... not quite. A strong contender for best in 30, though. I like it; plenty of elements of classic Brian there. Thanks for the tip. :)

  • DexterX,

Two songs I hate as much as anything I have ever hated are Led Zep - Heart Breaker and Deep Purple - Highway Star - they are torturous – but why torture yourself when you can enjoy this piece of unbridled magnificence – better than a zero budget and making more sense:

  • Kyle Matthews,

And I don’t think I was alone – there was a global sense of ‘thank fucking god’ when those early records arrived – you only need to look at the music press of the time. Quickly, music became exciting again and people started to push the boundaries.

My partner worked in Beggs Musical in Dunedin as a teenager in 1977. She ended up being the buyerfor all their music and brought some of the earliest punk to Dunedin. She sold to her friends in the music industry - Chris Knox, Martin Phillips - and her experience was the same as yours Simon - holy cow where has this been all our life?
