    Correcting Dismal Sonya

Dividend yield is a calculation of a return on capital - it is the ratio that shows how much a company pays out in dividends each year relative to its share price.

The share price is the cost of the capital.

The Div yeild calculation = annual dividend per share / share price.

  • OnPoint: Election 2011: GO!, in reply to Keith Ng,

I agree - it is phucking crazy.

We are told that we need to sell power generation so that we can build more schools and roads and other things.

Selling parts of the pie, wh8lst shrinking the pie, so that you can eat more of the pie doesn’t help grow the pie.

This announcement by Key shows the Nats enjoyed being the govt for the last 2 years but haven’t got a clue on what to do next.

Power consumers have been reamed hard by the NZ Govt, you can guess how much it will hurt when the Govt needs the same return they were getting from 100% off of their 51% and the other 49% of the “owners” want the same.

  • Muse: The High Aesthetic Line, in reply to Andre,

Are you Sidious?, Revenge of the Sith wasn’t puerile – it would have been more authentic had Ratzinger got the gig – but otherwise it was a blast.

With the census I declare my religion as Jedi and my occupation as spaceman.

It may be that the other 33,000 were off the planet - I don't detect anything sinister or any disruption with the force.

I do note that Key & English seem to lean heavily on the dark side.

  • Hard News: We are all twatcocks now…,

A true sign of twatcockery is that one is unaware of what one is - so there is a degree of swagger involved.

Twatcocks are almost always instrumnetal in creating fusterclucks.

The plural form would be a "swag of twatcocks"..

The phrase what a bunch of "swags" refers directly to a gathering of twatcocks.

Some should get funding to do more research similar to that done on the clan Bogan.

Developed further having regard to gender relevance and overall "F"fort - "Twatcock" and Sarah Palin a perfect match, Bob Jones is a "Cocktwat", whereas say Micheal Laws would be a "Twatcock".

  • Hard News: Popular Paranoiac Politics,

The term “politically correct” is an oxymoron and inappropriate. How can anything derived from or associated with the political sphere or process be correct or appropriate? Political outcomes are mostly always never optimal.

The dilemma is illustrated in the range of scenarios that one can consider arise from the phrases, “giving your dog a bone”, “giving your dog a rubber bone “ and “giving your rubber dog a bone”. It is the circumstance associated with or that give rise to the phrase that are the nitty-gritty of the matter and not the phrase itself.

  • Hard News: Popular Paranoiac Politics,

Brash returning to the house, I would think he would be better off trying out as the lead singer of Bananarama, and perhaps just maybe he and Winston could form an old boyz band or a tag wrestling team.

What is it, can’t they find anything else to do, are they talentless or just plain unemployable??

Looks and reads like print media yet I have trouble wrapping my rubbish and getting my fish and chaips in it - The big plus is the change doesn't have those "thumbs up/thumbs down likes/dislikes thangs.
