I think I've heard this one before.
;)Should we vote on which version of the yarn we like better?

although people actually paid to attend the recent chris matthews robot monkey orchestra gig in dunedin in order to yell at him he was "shit" and that he'd "done nothing good since railway surfing",
I'm sure he was pleased he'd stepped out of retirement just for that :)Ugh. Why would people do that? Old grudges or something? That's so impossibly lame. How did the gig go apart from that?

I'm more from the japanese school of "silence reverence" toward performers I admire in concert, (suitable applause and shouts of support at applicable moments of course).
I recall it was Germany that some NZ bands had to adjust to when they toured. Reverent silence is great when you know that's what's going on, rather than indifference. So serious, the Germans.

The Tamihere & Banks show would be so much fun to watch from the south.
Oh, don't ...

I've recently just moved outside of Auckland City to Waitakere City (by moving 2km to the adjacent suburb). Even though it does have a large effect on greater Auckland, I'm glad I dont have to choose between Hubbard, Banks, et al. But who do I have to choose from?
McCarten reckons Harvey will face a significant challenge from John Tamihere, who will leverage his broadcasting presence. But does anyone think Tamihere would actually make a good mayor in west Auckland? I think he'd be a disaster.

The Auckland mayoralty makes me want to cry.
The whole thing's messed up. The right is too far right and the left is a messy mix of Labour/Greens/Alliance. I have to rely on the burghers of Hobson ward to return Richard Simpson to council when I'd cheerfully vote for him if I had the chance. STV would have been a good thing.

Out of interest, is Swney one to watch because he is neither Banks nor Hubbard?
Yes. The theory is that he'd take votes away from Banks' pantomime candidacy, but if Hubbard struggles, it's not unthinkable that some of the Hubbard vote would go to him.

Maybe in the second series they'll get a gig.

Bob - season three of The Wire also aired late night on TV2 - and, unfortunately, will not be released in R4 at all...
And these are the people who didn't want us to have region-free DVD players either. There's a point where it starts to look like contempt.

Well, with all due disrespect to the Beeb, Russell, you'd think its employees would be too busy trying to restore their own credibility to be flushing Wikipedia's down the loo.
If you're talking about the faked phone-ins and the attempt to fit up the Queen, that's an example of how a loss of trust in one part of the enterprise diminishes trust in every other part.
But I think BBC Interactive has done quite well here. It reported the story like every other media organisation. And then they realised there were a few dodgy edits from within their own walls and the editor addressed it. I think AP has reported its own whoopsies too. I'm not holding my breath for Fox.
And apart from anything else, they're not "flushing Wikipedia's credibility down the loo". Wikipedia seems quite chuffed about the whole scanner thing.
