  • Speaker: KICK IT! The Wee Fella,

another thing, I think the play-off will be a better game for having the Chermans in it - they'll still have a crack I reckon.

and when do they decide who's playing at home? someone will have to change strip, my telly will explode if orange is playing red.

can't see the dutchies being so polite in midfield in the final, I kept expecting a steaming shin-splitting challenge...it never happened.

Patience is all very well, but the game ain't endless.

yep, that Puyol, slow as innit....then again it doesn't really matter when you've always got the ball.

and Paul the Octopus does it again.

I, for one, welcome our new tentacled overlord.

I had all the one-eyed support I could handle pouring thru me cellphone during the game...sheesh.

damnation, must feel pretty cool to make a world cup final but.

so, good on all yous. have a pickled wotsit...oh, go on, make it two.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! The Wee Fella,

if that dutch goal was perfectly placed, then it'd have to be the greatest piece of genius of all time - a toe poke and at least two deflections...

and I have a tiny suspicion you might be right about the next game. at the very least the Spainish actually have a midfield.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! The Wee Fella,

yeah, one of the less invigorating 3-2 scorelines I've ever seen and the Dutch really need to sort themselves out at the back.

It's not like they didn't have the numbers there, but their organisation wasn't always what it should be. The keeper made some odd decisions as well.

And all three Dutch goals off the post.

Still, it was the right result for the final. I'm happy for Uruguay that they got so far - well done fullas - but they're not the most enjoyable team to watch. And what was up with subbing Forlan? Were they saving him for the play-off?

England must sign Suarez - the little bloke looks like a hell of a keeper.

oh that was grand while it lasted - just feeling lightly deflated that we didn't go out swinging a little harder.
might have been different if Paraguay had more on the line and had been forced attack us more. otherwise we don't have the skill level to prise open an organised defence.

so, what did McGlinchey do to piss off Herbert? you'd think he'd have got some kind of look-in.

huge wraps for Paston. it wasn't just his saves, his relaxed approach must have been a great boost to the back three.

and crazy to think we're disappointed. all I'd hoped for was that we wouldn't be totally marnused. to end undefeated and above Italy...night is day.

loved this in a chest thumping kind of was from the Guardian report...

'48 min. The second half begins as the first ended, with Italy on top and Ryan Nelsen giving an epic display of over-ma-dead-body defending.'
