Ponyo certainly worked its magic on a 10 yr old female Around Here. Knows & appreciates a totally radical take on The Little Mermaid when she sees it. 8 yr old brother somewhat underwhelmed though.

I'll go and warm up me Hemingway.

With good ol' Papa you get the added insurance of his having been an ambulance driver in WW1.
    Just like e. e. cummings.

"My A la Recherche du Temps Perdu can totally kick your Barchester Chronicles's arse!"

"That asthmatic seeker of lost times forever squatting in a tepid bath of his remembered past and all the stale soap suds of countless previous washings, all the accumulated dirt of years lay crusty on the sides of the tub. And there he sat, scooping up spongefuls of his own thick soup and squeezing it over his face ... like a pious Hindu in the Ganges."

    Aldous Huxley, Eyeless in Gaza.

David, you could work your way around many of our people of influence, weaving webs of most believable whimsy

Rice pudding, bisexual women & robots was a dynamite combo, though maybe it only works with Peter Dunne.

Now that is an interesting concept.

    Yes please.

BTW it's nice to see Lockwood being cut a little slack. As far as we know everything he's achieved has been without the help of botox.

  • Hard News: In the nicest possible way,

We need more people to combat this PC crap that only serves to weaken society and create a bunch of namby pamby excuse welding fruit loops.

Of course you just know that those who advocate the bloody good kick up the bum solution would, in most cases, have to stand on a chair in order to deliver the treatment.
