  • Hard News: Where do you get yours? (Food…, in reply to TracyMac,

Yeah Coffee Supreme is good too - I only buy my beans at the shop as my coffee ingestion level is much larger than puny cups will allow.

The Hill St Market is ok and representative of its ilk but a bit thin - put it this way, my folks go there .. worth a look if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip
The original Porirua Saturday market 6-9am was cool though I haven't been there in yonks - got the best organic bacon there once.

I've snorkeled for some big paua either side of the marine reserve in Island Bay but I gather that that is outside the remit of this post??Either way there's plenty of venison running around the Teherenikau Valley at the moment though they've 1080'd the Rimutakas I hear

Oh yeah shout out to Masterton - there's a Moore Wilson's out there too - cool.

Samuel- will check out Cancan bakery, cheers

  • Muse: What The Frig, Police?,

"Le sigh... In future, I'm going to be increasingly inclined to be unsympathetic when people bitch about acts giving Auckland a swerve."

Please don't say that, Craig. This Wellingtonian goes up to AK often for gigs - you guys still get the most shows and I really like Auckland.
If they start avoiding Auckland then they may well avoid the whole country..

If bands don't tour Auckland then we're off to Aussie to see some shows and that would be a pisser - I love the way that the whole Queen St/Vulcan lane area is so alive these days with good food and bars. I remember the empty concrete canyons that downtown used to be.

Could the whole Police anti vibe be due more to the old lyrics
"That's the sound of the police
    Officer,officer
    Overseer,overseer.."

They weren't too keen on BodyCount's gig due to the"copkiller" track for similar reasons, if memory serves

  • Speaker: How's that three strikes thing…, in reply to Danielle,

As one who destroyed his telly aeons ago I don't pretend to be morally superior - rather I found it difficult to ignore when on and there was this new internet thingy that could give me the news when I wanted without being yelled at by a Briscoes sale or condescended to by a vacuous newsreader.
I'm impressed by those that can treat it like moving wallpaper.

I still watch TV, just not on TV.
    No ads, when I want.

It's going to take a metric fucktonne of convenience for those like me to come back in to the legitimate fold, if ever.

If there's a technological innovation that will rot your brain, it's Facebook, not TV.

  • Hard News: Getting Out,

Lucinda did that "slow for the first half/rocky for the second" thing last time I saw her - I gather that it allows her to warm up her voice by doing gentler stuff at first.

Earle was bloody good at Bodega last Thurs.

  • Hard News: Belief Media,

I tried buying a bottle of wine in the supermarket yesterday but these religious whackjobs have said no, you aren't allowed to drink because our invisible friend in the sky says so.

I know that humans do a lot of stupid things here on earth such as reality tv, going to war for non-existent WMD's and playing golf but I shall resolve when next I meet one of these prattling proselytisers to inform them that seeing as it is their religion and not mine, they should go to hell.

I shall be having a quiet shiraz.

I agree with Martin, most reggae bores the tits off me.Mighty Diamonds are ok.
I mean, what do ya do during those long spaces in between notes? Play scrabble?

The worst song has got to be

which only marginally outdoes "Shadow on the Wall" by Mike Oldfield for repetitiveness

But yeah, Lloyd Webber is the Nickelback of stolen light classical - makes Mancini sound like Bach's Art of Fugue - might be stretching it a bit there
