They were a bit revolutionary (pun intended) in their time.
My copy of Coup flew off the roof of a car as I was unlocking it in Harlesden and under the wheels of a Routemaster bus.
I retrieved it and it still plays perfectly. The cover has a wide tread mark on it.

Yep, I was That Guy.
I so totally do remember you, unless there was more than one of you.

Awesome! Seems sort of appropriate. Of course there has been much discussion about that little sample. Amazing what an upwards inflection can do.
ETA: Seems many, including myself I admit, understate the importance of 23 Skidoo in the greater scheme of things. Formed in 1979.

Danielle, in reply to
Bits and bobs:
She's cool, all right.
Well. She's emphatically not "cool", but she was really *good*. A beautiful interpreter of others' songs. Until about 1980something, anyway (duetting with Bryan Adams is where it all goes wrong). Give It Up is one of my favourite albums, ever. And her version of John Prine's 'Angel From Montgomery', oh... so heartbreakingly sad.
Chris Difford is often suggested by Facebook as a 'person I may know', because we have FB friends in common. But as it turns out, he is actually a person *Steve* knows! Heh. Excellent.
Shannon's 'Let the Music Play'
Oh gosh, I just remembered that I love that. I must acquire it!
Loleatta
What a voice, what a voice. Yowza.

Also, something else fabulous from Chicago:
I will give anyone here one thousand dollars if they can find me that hat.

Jacqui Dunn, in reply to
My personal favourite Raitt song is "I Feel the Same"
and if this ain't cool, with Little Feat'n all, I don't know what is. -

You don't already have a copy?
Son, I am disappoint.
You'll be telling us next that you don't own a copy of I.O.U by Freeeze.

We are Legion.

Generous that no one pointed out I re-posted Inner City three pages late. Doh!
I.O.U by Freeeze.
As far as I can tell, while you mentioned it, you didn't post it. Deserves an outing, I reckon.

Steve Barnes, in reply to
Do you know what? You are a man of hidden and unknown depths.
You don’t know how low I can go.
I’ve just designed and built a solar hot water system for $50 :-D -

Patent it. No don't, please. Share it indiscriminately for the betterment of humankind, and I want one.

No, I will never part with the drawings, Sofie has a big handbag. ;-)
Nah, seriously.
I'll put it up on my Blog when I've drawn it up, it is sooo simple. -
This thread is screaming for some Chaka, no?
Khan was born Yvette Marie Stevens in 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in Chicago's rough Southside projects...
HT to GeorgeFM this afternoon for reminding me how much I love this song.

Presumably not a large hotwater bottle on the roof? :p

There's a bit more to it than that and I was a bit conservative on the price but Hey.
Check out the project Peria Blog Burma Road
Now, get back to Music, Simon gets a bit ansty when someone goes off topic, remember that "Other" thread?.

We can't have that! He might get antsy, as well.
So what about this then? (Better sound than a recent one, live, in Berlin, imo, so apologies for the "no vid"-video)
-
Sorry but, personally, I think he should have stuck to being a bus conductor. The way he waves his arms about you could mistake him for these guys
-
Jacqui Dunn, in reply to
Oh yeah? Was going to come back with some smart riposte if I could think of one, but I couldn't, and somehow ten hours later I still can't. Bugger.
Oh yes - there's no pleasing some people!!

We are sorry, but this product is not available at this time.
Was that because you bought them all, or is Danielle saving herself from having to front. ;-)

"houndstooth+mod+cap" seems to bring up some close results.
Or 'houndstooth+jockey+cap'.
Shouldn't be too hard to find them. Ebay has a couple of 'close but no cigar' listings, like this and this.
I'll let Danielle off. I do her this favour, maybe she do me a favour sometime....an offer she can't refuse...

What? No horse's head?

recordari, in reply to
like this and this.
And this. Then there's this whole Alabama Houndstooth website, including Houndstooth for dogs.
I waaaaant the Fedora. Oh, not the dog one.

I'll put my hand up and confess to a perhaps grumpy overreaction to Toto but I did jump in and and wave the Elton John flag a post or two later to make up for that.
