You mean the massacre at Onawe? I’ve only been on Onawe once and it’s stunningly beautiful but still gave me the creeps.

There are stories of a huddle of children at Onawe guarded by their grandmothers who threw themselves in front of the Kati Toa invaders. O,and fought- Kai Tahu women
knew how to fight.All died.
While there were historical marriages to try and redress the northern slaughters,
there are memories that remain. -

There were deliberate marriages that took place in the 1910/20s between Kai Tahu & Kati Toa to heal the horrors but it didnt take/work everywhere (I had the privilege of talking with Taua Fan Gillies for instance, and while she was highborn

she chose to remember the bad bits, not the attempted concilliation.)

On the photo theme, I wish there was somewhere online you could listen to the excellent Blues for Robin, a tribute album made for the documentary Sense of Place on Robin Morrison. Luckily NZOnScreen has the doucmentary in full online.
Greg and co played a set at Take Me Back in 2009. It was fantastic. Photo thereof above.

Jackson will recognise where this is.
Heh, I noticed that the week it had been butchered. I rather liked it but it was sad to see the flowers gone . Can't remember what it was though. A brutal haircut if ever I saw one.

I love that shot of your girl - a sense of freedom just by looking at her.
