Oh dear i will get into trouble soon. Anyway I had been told off by so many people i lost count. First asked if i was media and having no tag i was chastised for possible intrusion. " Have some respect for the families" Well i have and did not take pictures
of them but NZ Celebs mainly politicians who were cleverly stored amongst the families. A cunning move Mr Parker.

When you take your hands out of your pockets Gerry and you coffee slurpers, not cool. What amazes me is their responses to you Gudrun, it is as if they feel their manipulations need to be defended.

All i wanted to do was taking a few snaps of the band on my left. However Bishop Victoria gave me this look of a matron so i just pushed the release out of respect you understand and within seconds her 'Baldrich' to her right rushed over and gave me to understand that under any circumstances was i allowed to take a photo of the families.
Once again i had no intention.

Now this is an earlier shot of Mrs Joanna Parker, wife of Bob. To her credit i did not get nasty vibes from her and she seems friendly at least. Interesting to see the red mystery woman beside the officer and the media hound carefully eavesdropping .

In case you have any doubts i was under surveillance from the the boys in blue. This one shifted the focus ever so slightly once i took one of him. I guess I am a bit of an unknown creature so keeping an eye on me is the way to go.

  • merc,

Gudrun this is an important photo essay. When I was at Laneway the police had iPhones and were taking photos as well. Something odd when the police take photos of us taking photos of them.

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

Great work Gudren. A picture definitely says a thousand words eh?
I would rather you take my photo than that cop doing it ;)
The woman next to Parkup is his deputy isn't it?. She would speak to media last year when Parkup wasn't available.
Interesting how everyone that caught your camera eye looks decidedly uneasy. And the clergy by gods! Nice
No matter what he makes me queasy (Sacha) :))

Gudrun, My guess is that you have pro photo gear, a long lens, no id/accreditation visible, and you're not known to most suits. You're taking a lot of pics of pollies, security and police. Rightly or wrongly, security tends to get jumpy when folks like the PM and GG and a concentration of importancies are gathered. And they do like a nice file pic.

Anyway I am known to quite a few by now lol.Gerry is getting used to me and so will his highness Mr Parker.I intend to win them over and who knows we might share a beverage one of these days.Peace.

Yes, goes to show they too are interested in photography. I talked to a female officer who showed me an amazing shot of a water pitcher filled with flies, taken with an i phone. She had unlimited access and perhaps did not even think that much of the shot. I keep thinking about it, what an image.

I did ask myself what ever happened to that benevolent spirit? Let's hope they take a few medicinal pick me ups and turn that frown upside down.

Where is that eating place? It looks like somewhere I used to know in London, or was it Christchurch? Looks a fine cosy spot on a winter's night like tonight.

  • Keir Leslie,

that’s his job, regardless of our feelings about how well he’s doing it

Eh, I overheard multiple people here who were pretty unhappy with the way he handled himself at the memorials. Now, I actually reckon most of that was unfair, but still, it's bad when someone who knocked doors for Anderton reckons Parker's being unfairly bashed by members of the public.

Smack in the middle-of Vienna. I treated myself to a wee snack and a glass of wine and carried on taking pictures.
