  • JacksonP,

Decided to retract my initial comment here, while we divert our attention to #eqnz. So so difficult to fathom. Take care everyone.

  • Ian Dalziel,

    a sense of wander...

Nov 22, when we first launched Capture,
seems a distant memory. We had hopes...

You might even call it 'sticking your neck out..."
And what an elegant neck it is, all angle and poise!
So how wonderfully apt to have an Audrey Hepburn
hat-tip titled post for the holidays...
    neck minute (part 2)...

...or was it those furshlinger scooters you were thinkin' of?
    hmmm : - )

  • Joe Wylie,

The bottom of the barrel of the Flintstones/Jetsons franchise. Died after one crappily-drawn season, sparing the world from possible further knock-offs such as The French Letters, who would likely have lived in a condominium.

    the reanimators' revenge...

possible further knock-offs such as The French Letters, who would likely have lived in a condominum.

and the theme song woulda been Sheath a mod!

    How about My Thracians
    with cuzzy Spartacus...

    You got me.

If I could take all of Christchurch on a real Roman Holiday right now, I would.

Get out on the highway, on a scooter.

Actually, just discovered the real Roamin' Holiday was an Our Gang (Little Rascals?) short film from 1937.

It's a hard road being original.

    Nice one Joe.

  • merc,

When I get home, and I've been holding back, but it is time I showed you a picture of my Peugeot Mobylette, orange 70's style. In congested French traffic the only way to get to the surf on time, board under arm.

    Roamin' space, chasin' tail...
More comet Lovejoy, but from a unique vantage point
just a short piece from the International Space Station
Very 2001 and all the speckles in the darkness at the start
are lightning flashes, what a planet we share...

  • Jackie Clark,

Neither Ian nor I will be going anywhere much these holidays. Mum has a house to renovate before she moves in (well the tradespeople will do it like February xmas elves) so I'll be keeping her company less than I normally do over this period. And thanking my lucky stars that, unlike Xmases in the recent past, she isn't emotionally fragile, so I won't be required as much. Otherwise, Ruby and I will be making hay while the sun shines (hopefully), and celebrating her getting over a virus that has required a wee bit of isolation - more for the sake of human politics, than anything else - by making a return to the Big King, and Takapuna Beach, and other dog populated areas. Hoorah!

And we are but star dust :) Hope you can try get past the quaking Earth distractions and enjoy what else there is. Can't wait 'til we get to our telescope with new motorised attachments for better viewing and photographic stuff he has derived. The sky up there is pretty intense at night. No distracting city lights anywhere. Pure stars and planets and space junk and.... who knows?

    the origin of the spacies...

    No distracting city lights anywhere.
    Pure stars and planets...

That was one of the upsides of the February quake
    and all the power outages
    - we got the milky way back (for a while)!

    dust bunnies...

And we are but star dust

and of course you realise that star dust
is an anagram of stud rats and we are
    somehow fittingly, both...
(it just remains to be seen
    how and when we will
    abandon the planet...)

  • Lilith __,

This morning when it was going on for 4am and I was lying awake (again) because of another quake, I opened a Xmas present. It was this. I laughed myself silly.

Classic. For the photographer who has everything. Sorry for your disrupted night, though.

So get more pressies and open one for every aftershock. That'll sort the problems out. Well some of them anyhow. A good laugh is the best medicine. Well there are other ones too but we wont go there ;) I'd be getting some solar xmas lights too. They will stay around no matter the bad weather. Take care Lilith. Don't let it wear you down.

  • Lilith __, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

A pity there are more aftershocks than presents! ;-) But yeah, trying to keep a sense of humour. Just doing the pre-Christmas cooking today and looking forward to hanging out with family and friends over the next few days. Times of crisis sure do focus the priorities. The loved people are the thing. And that goes for my PAS buddies, too. All of yous: arohanui, and thanks for being there.

All of yous: arohanui, and thanks for being there.

It seems the least we can do is set up silly photos with the hope of helping to fill the spaces in between.

Arohanui to you and all those in Christchurch this Christmas.
