Sky, Symonds St, Mt Eden Corner. (Have I posted this already? I'm getting a bit forgetful).
I’m keen on a “markets” theme.
Good idea. Jonathan and I have started doing intrepid photographer safaris. We had planned to go to the new Silo market a couple of weeks back, but weather turned against us. Avondale is always fun. The various farmers markets around town too. Used to do Takapuna quite regularly also, but it lost some of it's appeal (i.e. the antiques weren't as good).

Many thanks Joe! Have bookmarked Peter, I will order a crab from him-
Russell - looks like a kind of market is growing already!
But, later this month, I'll promise to scope both the Oamaru & Dunedin markets, and send any pikkies that are worth the while-there's also a couple of v. small local markets at Moeraki/Hampden & Waikouaiti/Puketeraki that I'll check out.
O! Kaik' areas! I do look forward to getting back into them...

Many thanks Joe!
I have bookmarked Peter's page & will buy a medium-sized crab from him.Russell - looks like we have a market site going already!
However, I'll be over the other side of the hill for a couple of weeks quite soon, and will scope the Dunedin farmers' market, and the Oamaru Precinct market, and a couple of wee local ones at Hampden/Moeraki and Waikouaiti/ Puketeraki,
and would onsend especial displays... -

Reckon I'd definitely remember if you had - sky of the year so far.
Also big ups to Russell's heroic Avondale market background clouds. Those unimpeded Auckland skies, like living on a little island. -

I was there last night - just couldn't believe the extent of the crowd. Auckland really is a different country.

scary dolls in the antique market. It looked like carnage the moment I saw it.
Excellent .

but but but… Lantern Festival is tomorrow! Well, probably today by the time anybody else reads this. And a worknight here, too, but judging by previous years’ experience, that won’t stop any barrage of fireworks.
Awesome lanterns, though.
And who said scary dolls? We were in a toy store this afternoon and saw a row of dolls imported from Japan. My wife shivered and said, so scary, they look like ghosts. They did indeed look like they belonged in a horror film.
On a celebratory theme – the photo is my daughter and her mummy and mummy's 30th birthday cake yesterday (quick edit when I realised I took that photo before the candles had been lit).

So do you think you really need an SLR to get effective night shots? I have found it very difficult with any of my digital cameras to get clear night shots. Always with the blurring and fiddling around with the manual settings, me.
