I'm not sure what for, but for me the side trip into the Motu very on way home to Auckland from Gisborne last week was a trip down memory lane - spent much time here as a kid helping out on farms and fishing for trout with my Dad.

I was born in Opotiki, and spent many a holiday on the East Cape. While we were more coastal than river, the Motu is a big part of my memory of the place. Thinking of holidaying there in the New Year.
