Currently $86.5b and counting
How is that being kept so far away from public discourse?Personally I think Labour should be screaming it from the rooftops. That figure, even if it's only a close approximation, puts talk of surpluses and hints of tax cuts into perspective, doesn't it.
-
Angela Hart, in reply to
it sure does, and Labour, Greens and Mana should all be screaming about it- some negative comments are legitimate and necessary, and this is one.
-
CJM,
There doesn't seem to be any fire from the opposition. 'Anger is an energy'. Get up on the box and demand to see what these 'tax cuts' are RIGHT NOW because Key said they were all ready to go on monday but the shooting in Ashburton happened? So they had them all ready to go, yes? NO, of course not. He was lying as was Joyce on the radio this morning. There IS NO PLAN. They have nothing but no-one in the media is pulling them up?
It's like a fight in a bad dream when your arms don't work, your just can't move them. Wake the fuck up RIGHT NOW. -

“Look! A tax cut!” seems to be the current technique. Sigh.
National’s partners’ tax plans cost at least $42 billion
While National and John Key in particular scream about the Loony Left and their fiscal irresponsibility……
What the fuckitty fuckitty fuck…. -
National’s blatant broadband pork barrelling misses the mark by a country mile
The industry hasn’t been consulted; even Crown Fibre Holdings, the government agency charged with managing the UFB contracts, hasn’t been consulted. And to cap things off National will use asset sales coffers to fund the UFB expansion.

I hear Key saying there were things in Dirty Politics that were just plain 'wrong' and that that was 'proved pretty quickly'...
Which things were these?I may have been distracted and missed something...

Key
LiesYou probably didn't miss that.

I see we've got Mike Hard Right Hosking back for the minor parties' debate. Couldn't manage a semblance of neutrality twice.

Not you, the media folk who keep giving him an unchallenged platform for such lies. Who knows how they feel about themselves, but probably more kindly than they deserve. Deeply, cravenly unprofessional.

So Russell Norman thinks Bill English is the best politician outside his own party.
Speechless... -
Russell Norman is on fire. Could just be the smoke machine.
Seriously, a smoke machine at a political debate?
All we need now is mirrors ant the illusion will be complete. -
I only noticed two of the 'minor leaders' say "at the end of the day"
I'd have thought they'd be avoiding that cliche like the plague...but they all seemed to be on their best behaviour
and Hosking was an irritant - supplying no pearls...
(waste of carbon, really...)but being all blokes was a bit grim I thought...
-

Yes, I tuned in for 5 minutes or so, saw it was going to be another talk over and switched off. Metiria did the last one (Campbell's civilised dinner) so it was Russel's turn, and under these conditions the deepest voiced, loudest, rudest person is often heard the most. It just makes me cross. I wasn't even tempted to turn back on to see the smoke :-)
What I thought with Campbell's dinner session was that I actually heard policy and they each had a chance to say what they wanted to. Two women, three Maori, by my count, not too bad. -

eh? so rude and pointless I switched it off

Never under-rate the impact of format and moderator. That example really worked for viewers.

I liked that Hone didn't give in to Hosking's jibes. Twice. It was good to see that if nothing else. I think Hosking was a little better than ever ever before in his whole life but that may have been because he was up against 8 people on stage and Winston can give just as good back as Hone can.

The panel is the least profession programme on Radio NZ National.
I caught the end of the panel on Friday and was surprised to hear Denise L'Estrange-Corbet insisting that there was no child poverty in NZ. Her argument was that if poor people only gave up their booze and fags, they wouldn't be poor any longer and their kids would all be well-fed.
She immediately went on to claim that there was no real unemployment in NZ because there are plenty of jobs available. I guess those same poor people just need to get out and choose a job from the thousands out there.
I rarely listen to afternoons on Nat Rad because it's a bit soft and squishy. But I was amazed that DL'E-C (is that a valid abbreviation?) was able to make these very right wing claims unopposed.
-
Weirdly, most of the correspondence seems to be Facebook chats, which I can't quite see how would possibly be hacked using a DDOS attack on the WhaleOil site.
A DDOS attack can be used as a distraction while the real hack takes place, presumably to get the passwords for the Facebook and gmail accounts like SamC suggested.
-
You want my based-on-nothing theory? Someone in GCSB doesn't like Tories. After the "feral" post, they used their bugging-fu to find out who was running the DDOS attack and then sent them a little package with Slater's traffic on a memory stick.

Dismal Soyanz, in reply to
Yep. I listened to it for about 15 mins and thought there was too much uninformed reactionary bs. It was either switching off or revisiting my lunch.

There, fixed it for you...
