That would be great! And not out of the question given that she's playing festival shows ...

I don’t know why he couldn’t ride a bike (I blame the parents), but it works beautifully as an image.
When Ed was a young lad it was pretty hard to teach him anything he didn't want to learn. But while he dug his heels in about riding a bike, he did agree to learning the guitar. And now thanks to his musical endeavours he can ride a bike too, so everything worked out alright in the end!

Just claim you planned it all that way.

Just added this to the post: Dubhead and Stinky Jim are celebrating their respective 25th radio birthdays tomorrow night with a boffo gig at Neck of the Woods tomorrow night.
-
Public Service Broadcasting would be my choice and justify a trip to Auckland (maybe).

Caught that Lontalius vid earlier this week from twitter:

always nice to see a slice of something so close to home came back to you via your heroes on the other side of the world. Choice track and super vid. I'm not crying you're crying!

Great opening lines Russell, simply add that DJ'ing can be a thankless task in this day & age when everyone is keen to slip on a track via their device (and sadly all too often, youtube, with advert first ... sigh)
I'm reminded of a good quote re: Serato which was along the lines of "It doesn't make a bad DJ good, but can make a good DJ better" I think its a DJ Day observation, and one I agree with
Haven't gone digital myself, so you'll find me in the corner happily content with a bag (or thoughts) of black wax :)

I really loved that Lontalius song and video. It grabs you by the heart strings.
In unrelated news, the much talked about New Order Music Complete dropped on iTunes today. Just listening now. Very Pet Shop Boys disco so far. Quite liked Tutti Frutti. It was. Very.

Oh! I totally missed the fact that it was released today. I'll have to give that a listen.

Listening to it now. Party Dadtronica.
And I actually don't mean that in a bad way.

Flying Nun could offer to help distribute it...

In breaking news St Theo (the ASpierings, from the Church of the Immaculate Udder) has spent his meagre pay rise on a new single as well: Whey Cup Whey Cup (Au Go-Go) - all farmer shareholders will be sent a copy in lieu of a dividend! -
Being a DJ is the best and worst of jobs. When it falls into place, it's brilliantly affirming: you're the king or queen of the moment, the people are with you and you are their joy. On a bad night, it's a very lonely place indeed.
I can't let this slip by...
DJing is, at best, an art not a trade, by calling it a job, unless you are talking radio DJs, devalues both Art and Trade. -

DJing is, at best, an art not a trade, by calling it a job, unless you are talking radio DJs, devalues both Art and Trade. The title of the post is actually a reference to a fairly obscure reggae album.
But being a working DJ is a job – you're being paid for your skills. I admire Murray Cammick, who makes most of his weekly income as a DJ, for the range of sets he can play – soul, disco, jazz, reggae, indie. And all on vinyl!
Murray is actually moving house the day before the event, which, if you know what Murray's record collection looks like, is a major relocation.
That's not to say DJing isn't an art too – look at people like Derrick Carter – but it's also both a job and a hobby, depending on what you're doing.

Forgiven then ;-)
We actually agree, choice. -

...the set list from PF in Chch on Thur night (should be attached). Bright Grey never disappoints. Going Fishing from the back catalogue. Loved too Trans Fatty Acid. - bugger, missed the cassette... if anyone has a spare for sale, I have ample capability to still play tape :-)
In one of his first legal outings, my 18 year old really got into it at the very front and was well chuffed to meet and chat with SFS post-gig.
PS Liam Finn's Pink Frost rendition superb!
