  • bob daktari,

“There are lot of people who want to ignore that part of the St James’ history,” said Steve of the theatre’s dance party days.

always someone hating on people having fun in a bloody entertainment complex, of all things, isn't there... and yet the St James did big parties like no other auckland venue, the nooks and crannies and multiple rooms made attending an adventure... so much fun - not to even start on the wealth of talent that spun there *shakes glowstick*

It's on his Chant Darling album, with vocal overdubs. Pretty neat to hear the original take.

Shayne Carter’s all-seated gig at Whammy Bar on saturday night

The crowd at the matinee show loved it, some intense playing of Dimmer and Straitjacket Fits songs but with acoustic guitar. And his repartee was spot-on, as usual. Meanwhile at the bar, they were fundraising for a unique cause.

Ah, I love his debut and The Sparrow, but I've only listened to Chant Darling the once, I bought it for dad for Christmas a few years back but I wasn't so taken with the production. The way his voice works with the reverb is ethereal. Worth a re-listen obviously.
