• Craig Ranapia,

I need to, so where's the link?

is this it?

No - but that's still pretty gross (but was published on the front page of the ComPost). Can you trust this potty-mouth vulgarian Sodomite, when I say it grossed me out (which takes some doing) and Russell isn't giving the linky love, or even an old school name-and-shaming, for good reason.

• andrew llewellyn,

Or... building up to the big one here... you a cryptic crossword fan? The picture is heinous.

• Craig Ranapia,

On a lighter note, should I be too upset about ending my time at a place where the exit interview has been rescheduled - literally as I was on my way out the door to catch a bus -- because...

...the HR person is on leave (booked up before Christmas), and failed to either clear her diary or arrange someone else to cover. Gee, thanks for reminding me to raise the enormous amount of wasted time and effort cause by poor (or non-existent) communication.

That's all. Thanks for letting me vent. Carry on...

• Russell Brown,

I'm another one on the right who was annoyed by it, and I normally have a lot of time for the blog it was on.

I don't. I think they lost me the time they made the funny jokes about raping another blogger.

is this it?

Hardly.

Oh, you mean this one?

I think she looks fine.

Yeah, the guy is a knob.

• Russell Brown,

Oh, you mean this one?

No. Although Whaleoil's gallery of Helen Clark pictures is so copious as to suggest there's something sexual going on in his head.

OK, this is getting way OTT now.

Really, why? I've always thought of them as Beavis to Whaleoil's Butthead.

• Finn Higgins,

I found it on the first guess, not that it's worth it for any reason other than a general dislike of being held in suspense. I wonder what he's doing on his holiday to Thailand, what with a picture collection like that to work with?

• Blair Mulholland,

Juvenile and pathetic the image may have been, but those who have flailed around in such deep offence really need to get over themselves.

Far more offensive is Russell's continued defamatory assertion that [sad clown in question] made jokes about raping another blogger. If it were me, you'd have court papers on your doorstep by now.

Ugh. He was an idiot when he went to university. Clearly, moving on in the world didn't help him.

I thought I was fairly measured, actually. I made the point that had the shoe been on the other foot, the wingnuts would have been incandescent.

Case in point. How could you say that, you evil leftie? Help! Help!

As I pointed out to Cameron Slater, you people would be more impressive if you didn't immediately default to victim mode every time someone calls you on your actions.

I'm quite aware of what was said, and I took the same meaning as the target of the jokes and her friends did. The lame attempts to rationalise it afterwards weren't very convincing.

If your friends weren't such sorry little children they might not have to deal with people "misunderstanding" them.

As opposed to, say, those who write blog posts lecturing entertainers on their behavior (despite not being familiar enough with the artist to even, say, spell their name) and post pictures of themselves looking like this on the internet?

Oh, piss off. You know ...the person concerned might like to get his arse back in the country and try campaigning around sane people when this kind of crap is getting rubbed in your face. And don't be naive enough to think it won't.

Then again, I'd rather like to see a center-right government this time next year, but it's not going to happen without some sheer human decency and a lot of discipline.

And would it be within the realm of possibility you'd be a tad less sanguine if it was Heather Roy or Bronwyn Key getting that kind of treatment on a left-wing blog?

Sorry for going off, folks. But really...

Grrr... I may be a potty-mouth puritan, and there are numerous occasions on which I can be pinged as a partisan hypocrite. But not this: It was just inexcusably vile, especially when it was ostensibly posted on a dare. What the hell is this: primary school?

The more sensible end of the smacking brigade might now see fit to STFU until we hear evidence in court.
Exactly. Would you put me in teh sensible end Russell? Or not in that brigade at all...

• Russell Brown,

Anyway, I should stop the bickering and the making fun of Chuck Bird on Kiwiblog (the latter is dangerously addictive; I made a joke about the Big Day Out and he demanded to know why I was bringing this "gay event" into it) and finish my column before the wine runs out.

Final word: I probably qualify as a tribal Labour voter, but I'm not as horrified as some people by the possibility of a change of government. I might disagree with Bill English on some things, but I think I saw the measure of the man when he spoke at an autism fundraiser I helped organise.

But I think National (less so Act, for various reasons) is going to have to treat the centre-right's online cheerleaders with some caution this year.

Yeah right. That's a Statement of Claim I'd like to see Blair. I suspect your knowledge of defamation is too informed by watching Denny Crane.

To be honest, you're right -- but I'd also say if the political blogisphere wants to be taken seriously this election year, it better start acting like it deserves to be. I'd say that applies, to varying degrees, to all parties.

I agree, but over the break I was paid a social visit by a friend who works for a cabinet minister. Somewhere along the way I noted that we'd survived many National governments in the past & that Key was highly unlikely to affect the fall of Western Civilisation.

I was astonished (but hid it, for fear of offending) when the previously very sensible woman, who I have known for 30 or so years, let fly with a diatribe that would make the worst wingnut proud.
