I feel like if Key hadn't tried to claim the Gwyn report as a win for National, then they might actually have come out ahead. Be a little bit humble and benefit from it. But clearly they didn't and now spin needs to be added to more spin to not look like it's all a big lie.
But instead they tried to paint it as a win, when it clearly isn't. And it hasn't really worked out.
Also, I expect that Cam Slater's death plot is mostly related to this post: http://www.whaleoil.co.nz/2014/11/im-alive-something-share/ [warning, WhaleOil link]. It's not about anyone actually trying to kill him but just putting him under enough pressure that he kills himself.
I'm pretty sure this just shows the paranoid nature of Slater. And megalomania. As far as I can tell, the pressure on Slater is directly related to the dodgy situation of his own making.

Or possibly even full-on Stan Graham.
Labour voted at the first reading to force it to go to select Committee stage so that it can be scrutinised .
But it also sends a message, that they are happy with it in princable.

But these people are not interested in governing, they are only interested in being the government, i.e. winning. Winning is everything, winning everything is the only incentive. The whole thing's just a game and you have to win. At the end of the day they'll convert their victory points into some other medium: money, shares, property, board memberships; and just carry on playing a different game.
Without Select Committee it will be a shit piece of rushed through poorly drafted legislation. With Select Commitee it could be legislation that may help us have a better than shit inevitable legislation because it will go through no matter what. Labour do it this way, they always have but it never stops me from telling Goff what I think and this week is a good one to make your point expressing how untrustworthy National are and how dangerous this could be to our democracy and Goff of all people is in the perfect position to bombard him reminding him of how it turns to custard if National get their way. If people don’t communicate with our Mps, how on earth will they know our feelings. One can’t rely on them reading blogs to hear your views. They are all easy to write to . National are pointless puppets, Green are converted, it’s up to people to complain to the ones that can get change to the legislation if nothing else, Dunne Maori and Labour possibly NZF. Seymour is just a seat filler. Labour/ Greens on their own cannot stop this.
he just gets archer...

Hmmm - great elevator pitch!
I can see a whole movie franchise emerging from that
- in fact the latest instalment is in theatres now: Mocking JK
he certainly has 'a quivervocation' sorted...
Herald mentions the Select Committee submissions.
Toby Manhire with a plea to give John Key a break.
As any student of critical theory will tell you, Key is simply awake to the futility of pursuing concrete meaning in a world of contested reality. He is invoking the sort of thinking once articulated by Harold Pinter.
"There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false," mused the socialist playwright. "A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false."
Life is complex. Everything is contestable. Meaning is potato.
Everything is contestable. Meaning is potato.
I have the album…
more fine work by Murray Grindlay, Alan Gallbraith and others…
A blast from the past. Just catching up...was back on the road again, heading like greased lightning from those bone chilling city slickers.
Went to Coromandel.
Now back in "civilisation", and have the time to drop a line.
See its the same shit, different day.
(I too have the album....well...a half share under the MPA, on vinyl)
