Can we have acronyms? Through October, I was confused by commentators describing Ritchie McCaw as a ‘goat’. Then I saw it written as G.O.A.T., which, to me, read like a mid-90s Wildside band. Hey I think he’s the ‘Greatest… ‘ , but in written form G.O.A.T. was as ubiquitous as it was confounding.

I know we’re not voting yet. But I’m with Jolissa: Quaxing. It’s new. It’s positive, and yet – how to put it – moral. It knows the difference between right and wrong. And in the best of Kiwi traditions, it’s both pleasantly pejorative and satisfyingly sporty.
It reminds us of our national sport in a parallel universe: farnarkling.

I really wish the Nelson Street Cycle Path had a great name but to be fair it’s just an Auckland thing.
Another Auckland thing was the Pohutukawa 6
Because I’m a scientist I’d suggest Genome editing, but I suspect it’s probably a year or two early. If you don’t know anything about it I suggest you look it up. If I had to pick one technology that will shake the world up it will be that.
