  • Richard Irvine,

Nice one - I once dreamed I played for the All Blacks in Sydney - I was in the tunnel giving the Australians some amazingly witty putdowns before we ran out. I wasn't worried about repercussions, though, 'cos I had Frank Bunce backing me up. That's still my favourite dream of all time, and about as close as this desk jockey has ever come to wearing black.

Here's a slightly more subtle approach to hiding beer...

  • Hadyn Green,

Dude! I had a dream I played for the Warriors! I was on the pitch going "I don't think this is right, I've never played league" Ahhh, great dream.

  • Richard Irvine,

Har, that's brilliant, and a nice twist on the 'I totally forgot to wear any clothes today' dream. I'm sure the nerves would have calmed down after the first couple of hit ups.

  • Peter Darlington,

I always thought if I was a Bill Gates billionaire I'd just buy the NZRFU and be done with it.

I'd make offers players couldn't refuse to stay in NZ, tell SANZAR to stick their Super comp and reinstate the good old NPC. Winning the Ranfurly Shield would bestow treasures upon players that nought but NBA stars and English football players could dream of.

We'd get to the final of every RWC and with a minute to go on the clock, with the AB's well ahead on the scoreboard, I'd sub off Doug Howlett and nip on myself for a quick jog along the side line, maybe a catch and kick for touch before the final whistle, just so I'd get to walk the magic mile up the grandstand and lift up Bill and bellow with the rest of them.

It would be a beautiful thing.

  • Don Christie,

See, there's the difference - Bill finding cures for Malaria and Aids and you...you want to buy the NZRFU.

    Insensitive clod.

  • Robyn Gallagher,

But you've obviously found your way either here or to the Dropkicks podcast, so you're halfway there.

I just listened to the lastest podcast, where Martha critiques the teams' uniforms. I was walking down the street when I heard mention of the mansierre that some teams' uniforms seem to have. I laughed out loud, attracting the attention of a lady walking her dog.

But no critique of the All Blacks' strip? I've noticed that the All Blacks' shirts can be either worn snugly to show off well-muscled physiques, or more loosely for the man with more padding.

  • Hadyn Green,

When I interviewed her I completely forgot to talk about the All Blacks, when she asked me later I didn't think it mattered. Maybe we'll do another one-off.

I have often been caught out laughing out loud to podcasts (usually Ricky Gervais). My partner was on the London Tube when she LOLed to the Dropkicks.

  • Hadyn Green,

Oh and Bill isn't in to find the cure, he's in to defend copyright laws and get tax breaks. </pessimism>

I know I know. I wish I was deep instead of just beautiful.

  • The Dropkicks,

I wish I was deep instead of just beautiful.

I'd settle for either of those.

Subject: the All Blacks uniform throughout the ages. It was that black jersey with the white collar for so many years. But now it's that high-tech nipple-enhancing fabric with contrasting panels for aerodynamic awesomeness.

Sounds like someone's been watching more rugby than she admitted to. Though the description makes it sound like the "George Clooney batsuit"

  • Ben Austin,

Slight hijack - Any of you fine gennelmen and ladies recall the name of a newish NZ brewed beer that was apparently designed specially for consumption with curry?

I always wanted to be one of the idle rich. At least I made it half-way.

Steinlager? So you have something else to blame the side-effects on the next morning...

  • Brent Jackson,

At www.realbeer.co.nz they mention Biman :

Biman (5.2%) was designed to complement spicy cuisine at a local curry house. I call this beer “The People’s Champion” because of its incredible popularity at beer tastings. Biman is teak coloured with a lovely nose of lime and pine needles. It has lashings of tropical fruit flavours (lime, grapefruit and mango) balanced with a firm dry finish.

Is this the one you were thinking of ?

  • Hadyn Green,

Wow, that sounds like a nice beer.

I've been drinking the Mata Artesian recently and can recommend it, but not for curry.
