I put on ACDC - Back in Black and after each of the first three songs on side one my three year old burst into applause - she just loved it.

Labour are 'wiggy" and not up to much, if they had remained in govt they would have moved into assets sales.

The Nats are agenda driven and doing things because they can do them and not because those things they are doing are the "best" or optimal outcomes for the country.
Shrinking the economy and borrowing for tax cuts is insane.Submission to the select committe considering legal aid will be invited.
It is Hobson's choice this year.

After today's legal aid announcement - and the apparent failure to develop good policy with any rational basis or logical process -"Dreaming of a world without justice" is the new thing - and that dream is coming true for some and will be a nightmare for others.

As I thought - NZ next top Public Intellectual would take the sheep’s lead.
Being able to be lead by a sheep is one measure of intellect.
To All
As regards the raging mass debate on the merits of “education” I would say no education is ever wasted, IMHO the merit of an education is the discipline to think critically, it is what you do after your formal education that matters most.
I like the thought that intelligence is the ability to profit from ones experience, with profit not meaning just money in the bank.

New Zealand's Next Public Intellectual - will of course be required to pose (symbolically) with a sheep - Sacha
I'm interested in what sort of pose would be struck? -
In responmse to Keir Leslie - There is so much philosphy - every one and everything has one.
I consider you are confusing the ancient “higher” learning institutions of philosophical (and religious instruction) with universities.
The modern western university originated in medieval europe (Western Europe) and were different in character being made up of associations of students and teachers which were their own corporate indentity wth legal rights and governamce set down under the charter and not (necessarily) set up by the religions to study the meaning of life.
Advancing philosphy as the point of an education will only end in ruin. The point of an education is what one wants it to be.

No it is not an assumption that Labour is a party without splits in the caucus - they could have gone through a process that delivered a "better" opposition (governent in waiting).
Labour are presently languishing in the land of dysfunctional mediocrity.
Is Moira Coatsworth the new Prez "capable" and now that they are sticking with Goff can Labour make a decent fist of "it"?

We can clone sheep, we can build a cycle way to rival the great wall, we will become a global fund management centre of excellence, we will mine and then not mine the conservation estate, the Black Quacks can rally and make a cricket semi final.
Surely we can expect a bit more than a bunch of cloned sheep as the (governmnet in) opposition.
